Singl hop series
Head brewer Mike’s favourite hop in the world is, without a doubt, Simcoe from Yakima Valley in Washington, US. To showcase this wonderful hop we have combined it with a subtle red rye ale. The classic Simcoe tangerine and passion fruit aroma are on full display here and interplay nicely with the spicy/peppery rye malt base. Is your mouth watering yet?
Tasting notes Colour/appearance: golden colour, fluffy off-white head with good retention.
Aroma: intense aromas of pine, tangerine and passion fruit.
Flavour: big bold tangerine peel flavour, peppery rye spice at the tip of your tongue. Good balance between full-flavoured hop and the crystal/rye malts.
Aftertaste: smooth and lingering spice

Bottle. Pours a hazy golden beer with a massive, pillowy white head on top that leaves great lacing. Aroma is citric, grapefruits, tangerine, but also some rye and grainy influences. Subttle and easy going in the aroma, but quite heavy in the taste. Loads of citric bitterness, very hoppy, bitter grapefruit and not much room for any ryemalt. Only in the very back end of the flavor does the rye come to play for a short period. Rye is in there, but more present in aroma than flavor. Very highly carbonated, a bit unbalanced but still enjoybable.

Bottle from Bradley’s, Cork [291114]
Dark amber, slight haze, frothy bubbly white head, light lacing
Aroma of tropical fruits, mango, grapefruit zest, fresh citrus hop nose, soft sweet malts
Taste of bitter citrus zest, grapefruit, tropical fruits, bitter orange, nice pithy citrus, fruity caramel malts underneath, some spicy notes, plenty of hops in this, the rye flavour is light in here which is good
Palate - Soft carb, medium body, bitter hops with a soft sweet malt background. Finish has a bitter zest linger. Well balanced,
Overall - It’s one of the best beers from this brewery. Really good stuff.

Draught at ICBF14. Dark red with a solid head. Aroma is big hop and forest. Flavour is sticky fruity hop, some biscuit mix at the back, but a big beer this.

Clear russet with steady taupe carpet that webs. 4 Huge fresh dank hop leaf nose with some pine. 4.5 Crusty dark rye loaf, some clove spice, then dried tangerine rind, resin, and pine forest floor. 4 Cointreau finish and Angostura linger. Almost medium, clean, some cling. 4 -- Stupidly big nose - like a hop sack. Flavour doesn’t match, though - and it should at the 4 month mark (BBD 4.28.15). Dank like Simcoe should be, but doesn’t give passion fruit (though to be fair, it doesn’t get catty either, and fruit comes out as it warms.) Just wishing for some Cali brightness - I guess you need C hops for that. 4

Draught, small stable creamy head, a bit hazy deep orange colour, aroma of pomello, grapefruit and some peach with some barnyard and a hint of pine, melange of citrusy notes dominates the flavour with with piney notes, and a light biscuity maltiness in the back complementing and empathic citrusy bitterness. Excellent lively brew.
