BrewDog Vs Weihenstephan India Pale Weizen kicks off a new direction for our collaborations. We took a simple concept (by our standards) and teamed up with the oldest brewery in the world to brew a mash-up beer using the signature styles of both breweries.
India Pale Weizen has classic base hefeweizen aromas and flavours of banana and clove, with distinctive haziness. Layered on top of this is a tapestry of US citrus hop character. India Pale Weizen is a perfect symbiosis of traditional and modern brewing.
Malts: Extra Pale, Wheat, Munich
Hops: Centennial, Simcoe
Twist: Traditional weizen hopped like an IPA

UPDATED: JUL 13, 2018 Had this back in mid 2015. This was an interesting collaboration in theory, but in reality the weizen flavour and aroma notes were somewhat lost in this. Midly disappointed, but was still perfectly drinkable.

Svesse (14242) - Hässelby, SWEDEN - MAR 15, 2018
(Bottle) Golden amber colour with big, frothy, off-white head. Malty, spicy nose with notes of white bread, citrus, apricots, grapefruit, some banana, white pepper and a touch of clove. Malty, spicy taste with bread, apricots, lemon peel, grapefruit, clove and a gentle citric/floral bitterness in the finish. Medium body, quite dry. Tasty and well balanced, with fresh hops, but not aggressively bitter. The weizen flavours of bread, clove and banana add an extra dimension. Nice one.

340ml from Roeland. Pours a cloudy orange/yellow with long lasting densely packed head with excellent lacing. Aromas of bananas, melon, clove, wheat, apple and spicy yeast character. Palate has high carbonation and light body. Flavor of citrus and wheat with a medium low hop bitterness. Refreshing and delicious.

[backlog] 05-05-15 / bottle at Hostel in Sydney, Australia. Unfortunately without proper glassware. Stil a nice beer. Hefeweizen base, with yeasty aroma, some banana. It gets overloadad by a nice hop aroma with citrus grapefruit notes. I started rating my beers with Untappd and a few basic notes. Now I want to rate them on ratebeer. So my rating sometimes lack some information. Just ignore it, it is for my personal statistics. Untappd-Rating 3.75/5

jmgreenuk (19482) - Kuala Lumpur, MALAYSIA - JUL 27, 2016
Bottle at Brew Beers and Ciders, Sukhumvit, Bangkok. Poured a hazy medium amber with a thin white head. The aroma is yeast, citrus, light grain, banana, grassy hops. The flavour is moderate to strong bitter with a citrus, yeast, medicinal floral hop palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Too floral. The hop combo does not work for me.

daje (4909) - NORWAY - MAY 16, 2016
On tap at BD57, july 19th 2015. Hazy yellow body with a fine white head. Aroma of banana and clove esters, mild citrus hops, herbs and resin. Taste is sweet and creamy with a late bitterness that cleans it up a bit, fruity with wheat. A nice Hefe/ipa blend, though the styles work better on their own in my opinion.
