COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Acadian Groove emerges from the changing tempo of Spring in rural Ontario. Here, we go with the flow of 3000 tapped trees and jam with the full-falvored dark syrup that Breedon's Maple Farm sweetly pulls from the soul of that sappy stream. That syrup lends our Imperial Maple Porter its caramized sweet taste that's unique to the land of the Flying Monkeys. Tantalizing aromas of maple and sweet roasted malts are more than Canadian kitsch in our maple beer: they are the remembrance of the rural rhythms our lives in Ontario. Layered with the plump, creamy flavor and aroma of split vanilla pods with undercurrents of light coffee and chocolate, the warmth of this 10% ABV beer embraces the promise of Spring.
Ingredients: water, barley malt, (Pale 2-row, Chocolate, Crystal 60, Caraaroma, Melanoidin, Black), flaked oats, vanilla beans, maple syrup, hops (Columbus, Hallertauer), yeast.

dorain (2484) - Berlin, GERMANY - SEP 27, 2022

UPDATED: APR 22, 2021 Bottle shared with friends. From the description: 'more than Canadian kitsch'. I´m not so sure because it´s sweet beyond maple suryp sweetness. But together with tart yellow raisins, vanilla, chocolate, warming booze and coffee pralins it works reasonably well with a creamy and rich vanilla ice cream. On it´s on. Not so sure

UPDATED: FEB 26, 2021 (Bottle) Dark brown colour with dense, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with dark chocolate, coffee, maple syrup, toasted coconut, black rye bread, prunes, raisins and a touch of cinnamon. Malty, roasted, sweet taste with notes of maple syrup, dark chocolate, orange peel, toffee, black rye bread, coconut, cardamom, prunes, treacle and a sweet finish with a mild roasty bitterness. Full body, very sweet. Smells very promising, there are lots of interesting flavours, but in the end to sweet to be brilliant. Still, a nice one.

UPDATED: JAN 3, 2021 A 750ml bottle with the bottled on date smudged out, but I’m pretty sure it’s more than two years. Poured into a snifter glass. It was a dark amber brown colour with a slightly less than one finger beige head that dissipated fairly quickly, but left some nice spotty lacing. Aromas of sweet dark malt, doughy, chocolate, caramel, toffee, maple, brown sugar. Tastes of sweet dark malt, maple syrup, doughy, caramel, toffee, brown sugar, chocolate, slight bitterness, with notes of nuts. Medium to full bodied with soft carbonation. Overall, on the whole it was too sweet and doughy for my liking. It wasn’t as balanced as it could have been and I was hoping for more roast, chocolate and bitterness.

Bottled. Clear mahogany colour, small head. Rich aroma of toasty maple syrup. Extremely sweet with medium-full body and syrupy, sticky mouthfeel. Maple syrup, with extra sugar. Tongue numbing sweetness. How is it even possible to sweeten maple syrup?

UPDATED: JAN 13, 2018

750 ml bottle in deluxe box bought at YATA in New Town Plaza, Shatin.

Looks: Clear old burgundy color with a thin layer of dirt-like yeast sediments; Three-quarter quarter finger head with soapy beige foam which lasts for 1 minute; Good sticky lacing with zero carbonation.

Aroma: Very fragrant and sweet dark malt, with rich maple sugar, strong vanilla, strong sweet caramel, sticky toffee, floral, strong syrup, spices, cakes and thin grass. Damn rich and nice!

Taste: Strong sweet dark malt, with milk coffee, strong maple sugar, strong caramel, sticky toffee, coffee liquor, chocolate, floral, sugar, spices, wood, earth, dry biscuits, lemon and fair bitter grassy hops. Maple delight!

Body: Close to full body. Slick palate.

Mouth Feel: Very good dark maltyness in a slightly runny but solid background. Vivid bliss of coffee liquor, vanilla and chocolate wrapped in a strong but nicely sweet maple sugar (this is a Canadian thing, ha ha!). Flowery, spicy earthy with barrel-like wood, end with fair lemon. This is a beauty!

Booze: the 10% abv manifests in coffee liquor in a low-fi, very penetrative manner. Never screaming, but you just know this has to be sipped for appreciation. So nice!

Hoppiness: floral, spices and thin grass in nose. Wood, floral, spices earth lemon and fair grass in taste; Bitterness is fairly strong for a lasting, mid to fair astringent sweet-bitter coffee malty finish.

After Taste: Quite dry. Maple-sweet and fairly bitter to mouth.

Comments: This is a great fusion of strong Porter with maple syrup and vanilla - the aroma is simply fantastic, full of nice maple sugar, while the taste is a tamed coffee liquor with vanilla and spicy hoppiness - very comforting and very Canadian. I love it and what a way to start the New Year!
