UPDATED: SEP 10, 2023 Can from HyVee, Caroll, IA. (Just don't feel like adding another place for this). Nice rich nose of mild stout malt, with vanilla and, I think, the coffee nose shows as chocolate roast. Nice frothy tan head over a black beer body. Taste brings up more coffee bitterness. Bubbly like a carbonated beer, which is no distraction. Goes down nicely, making it suitable even for the summer.

UPDATED: DEC 24, 2022 Canned@HBF18 Hotelroomtasting. Brown colour, mediumsized beigeish brown creamy head. Aroma is toasted, some floral and coffee notes along with mild toffee. Flavour is roasted malts, some toasted nutty and mild wooden and fruity notes.

UPDATED: APR 23, 2021 Aroma is chocolate, coffee and dark/roasted malts. The flavor is coffee, fruit/dark fruit, mild vanilla and a big acidic/slightly sweet finish.

UPDATED: JUN 21, 2022 Updated on nitro draft at the brewery. The ABV has changed to 5.0 now and the aroma and flavor has buckets of coffee and chocolate with mild bitterness. Vanilla is still there but not much sweetness. Draft at Addys after my Omaha trip got extended. Really big vanilla in the aroma and flavor. The coffee is lighter but it blends well with the stout. Light sweetness. Nice

UPDATED: MAY 16, 2020 While I've had this many times at the brewpub, this is my first rating for this - from a can, back at home. Deep dark brown coloured body with a thinnish, very fast-dying tan and light-brown head that starts at about 3 to 4 centimetres tall that fades to just one, a few seconds later. Aroma of coffee, vanilla (of course on both fronts), alcohol, nuts, roasted malt, peat, lactose, cream and a heavy hit of toffee and caramelised sugars - quite strong in the nose in a good way - complexity abound. Light to Medium-bodied; Strong malty notes dominate with a bunch of coffee, earth, nuts and especially vanilla and pastry notes with a lot of the cream still outstanding, a tiny bit of unfinished sugars from lactose and a dry, very earthy and pungent grainy bite, especially near the end. Aftertaste is robust - bitter from the coffee (especially) and the chocolate notes, but also showing a lot of earthiness and pungent cream, lactose, vanilla and anise spice, this is very complex and full-of-flavour, especially for the alcohol content. Overall, a very nice offering, especially for the style and in the city, this is one that is definitely worth trying (or buying and taking it to your home, like I did!) while in Omaha. I sampled this twelve ounce can, purchased from Hy-Vee in Omaha (Papillion), Nebraska on 21-January-2020 for US$1,99 sampled at home in Washington on 12-May-2020 on probably the last slightly chilly night of the season here in Washington, sadly.

UPDATED: NOV 23, 2019 Clear, near black pour with a two finger, fluffy to creamy khaki head. Aroma of huge dark roast coffee, dark roasted nuts, some char, roast, straw, lots of vanilla. Flavor is not as good, lots of the same notes, but not very well fleshed out with a weird sour note that doesn't fit at all. Light to medium body, medium to heavy, almost explosive carbonation, dry feel. Decent overall, but everything is a disappointment next to the aroma.

UPDATED: SEP 26, 2019 Can pour, deep brown with a thick fleeting head. Chalky coffee aroma. Tangy and watery up front with hints of dark chocolate, light coffee and a touch of vanilla.

UPDATED: SEP 4, 2019 I’ve had a lot of beer around the world, and while it’s better in Europe, this is by far my favorite in the States! Very smooth with a crisp coffee flavor with just a hint of vanilla!

UPDATED: JUL 22, 2019 355ml can - thanks LardyGirl! (5:4:6:3:11=2.9) Sweet beany coffee aroma, not a big fan. Brown, small head. Sweet coffee taste, plenty of vanilla too. Light body, moderate carbonation. Kinda drinkable brew, though i'm not a fan of overdoing the adjuncts so.

mansquito (16841) - Nueva York, New York, USA - JUN 21, 2019
UPDATED: JUN 21, 2019 Can from huskertan: pours dark brown with a beige head. Aroma is initially some vanilla coupled with what seemed to me to be a little stale coffee. Body was also surprisingly light and unsubstantial. Taste was sweet, sort of roasty, weak vanilla. All in all, I felt something was really missing.
