COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Flavors of dark chocolate and fruit meld to create a full-bodied, roasty stout. A fair amount of Polaris hops lend a brightness and a nice character that will help carry the beer in its early stages making it incredibly drinkable and interesting. Malt characteristics will continue to develop over time, so that beer drinkers who choose to cellar it can enjoy the beer for years to come. This big, strong celebratory beer (11% ABV) will be released in September coinciding with our 30th anniversary celebration.

UPDATED: JUN 18, 2021 Bottle. So this is the last bottle from a sixer that I bought ages ago... thought I rated it... didn't. Anyhow, at this age, it has a pretty thin head after pour, but it is a deep, dark brown that is imperial stout-y. It is a little thinner looking than most in this style, and mouthfeel confirms this later. Aromas are of chocolate, cherry, leather, cream. Flavor is all that but the cherry and dark fruit seem to be taking over a bit more with age. This thing is darn good after five years... that much is a certainty!

Pich black colour, no head. Aroma of molasses and some booze. Rich chocolate flavour, roasted malt, quite sweet, but not syrupy because the roastiness increases in the final.
Excellent.

UPDATED: JUL 14, 2023 The Final Beer (#15) of my #7000 Beer Celebration - 7 on either side of the milestone. Deep pitch black coloured body with a thinnish, single to two centimetre tall off-white head on top. Aroma of roasted malt, light coffee, oats, grain, anise, some smoked meats and a touch of mushrooms on the end with a lot of alcohol perceivable. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong rich malt flavours dominate with a lot of oats and grain showing through with a good anise, coffee, chocolate and some prune sweetness coming through at the end. Aftertaste shows more of the smoked and drier, rich flavours than any of the sweetness or coffee notes and ending with some cream and lactose sweetness that shows a touch of the caramel and earth and little else - no real complexity at the finish. Overall, a nice but relatively underwhelming Imperial Stout that was nice and relatively straight-forward, but missed out on some of the more pungent and complex components that would be nice to have in a celebratory beer. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Whole Foods in Fair Lakes (Fairfax), Virginia on 18-October-2015 for US$3,49 sampled at my house in Washington on 29-August-2018 as the final beer of my #7000 celebration!
