Bov (14982) - Bienne, SWITZERLAND - NOV 3, 2004clear bronze colour, almost no foam, moderate and pleasant smokiness in an otherwise neutral aroma, slightly overcarbonated, very sweet and quite light-bodied, some residual smokiness in an insignificant finish - this is smoked water
DrnkMcDermott (4235) - Downers Grove, Illinois, USA - SEP 20, 2004UPDATED: APR 4, 2007 Bottled, St. Petersburg. Went to the brewpub, found it not to my liking, but came away with a six of this (at 3 times the price of most beer in Russia). Having a smoked beer on a lager base was different, so this was probably the most experiemental beer I could find there. The smoke is in fact pretty light and fits in with the beer instead of giving it the "great taste of bacon." I’m still not too impressed by Tinkoff’s output, but this would be the one to go for if you have a choice.
Oakes (30678) - Richmond, British Columbia, CANADA - AUG 18, 2004Lean smokey flavours taste great, but the body is thin and has trouble holding them up. Grainy notes underneath. Wet. Metallic finish. Needs more gravity - 11P and no dark malts isn’t enough.
invalid (302) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - JUL 13, 2004Bottle in Tomsk, Siberia. Sweet malt nose with hints of smoke. Pours a clear gold color. Not much body, but the smoked flavor is nice. I didn’t expect to find something like this in Russia.
Boystout (1000) - Chisinau, MOLDOVA - JUL 13, 2004Call it Scottish Ale 40/- or 50/-. Pale, thin and bland with almost no smoke presence.
jbrus (4986) - Delft, NETHERLANDS - JUL 6, 2004Little malty aroma but heavily smoked. Golden color, small white head, good lace. Very malty, very smoked, maltsweet, quite some body, dry finish. Tinkoff is becoming a big one in Moscow beerselling places. But a smoked? Did they hire a brewer from Franconia?
