UPDATED: DEC 24, 2022 Das Ter Dolen Donker ist schwarz und somit wirklich 'dark' Die mittelporige, daumendicke und braun eingefärbte Krone fällt grobporig in sich zusammen. Der Geruch nach Alkohol und Kaffee dominiert. Beim Antrunk angedeutet süßer Einstieg flankiert von röstigen Espressoaromen. Der Körper ist gut ausgebildet und der Alkohol wird offenbar. Es kommt eine Pflaumenlikörnote rüber. Dabei ist die Rezenz im unteren Mittelfeld, was bei einem Strong Ale aber aus gesundheitlichen Gründen in Ordnung ist. Beim Abgang deutlicher Hopfen aber nur mit Bitterkeit und ohne eigenem Aroma. Ein durchweg ausgeglichenes und leckeres Geschmackserlebnis. Am Gaumen bleibt eine alkoholische Pflaumennote zurück. UPDATED: OCT 21, 2022 Double de 7,1 % abv, brassée avec 3 malts et 2 houblons. Parmi les malts, on trouve notamment du munich torréfié .. voilà qui est à la fois une bonne idée et très joli. Cette bière a d'abord été présentée en bière de Noël. Visuel très sombre, superbe. Nez entre grillé, torréfié et chocolaté. Entame aux belles nuances caramélisées, moins amples que le nez. Longueur qui trouve une vitesse de croisière, mais on est loin de l'espoir que laissait le nez !! CONCLUSION : pas plus d'abbaye que dans les autres ter Dolen .. puisqu'il n'y a pas d'abbaye .. mais la meilleure bière de la série .. (music pairing : Black tongue reverend, album All of them have fangs .. je ne peux rien ajouter .. mais c'est un superbe album heavy blues rock)

UPDATED: AUG 26, 2022 33cl fles. Donkerbruin bier met crème kleurig schuim. Geur: broodkorst, licht hoppig, ietwat gedroogd fruit. Smaak: licht zoet, wat karamel, klein bittertje, licht fruitig, pruim. Medium koolzuurprikkel.

UPDATED: APR 5, 2022 Bottle from Center Parcs Erpeheid. Dark, hazy, medium off white head. Nose is caramel, medjool date, fig, prune, dark dried fruits, brown sugar, cola. Taste is sweet, toffee, date, fig, cola, burnt caramel, prune, touch of aromatic floral, slight dryness on finish

UPDATED: AUG 29, 2021 Pours clear dark ruby red, mahogany lacing, lasting foam head. Aroma and taste are bit sweet, malty with fruit tones. (Velp 2108)

UPDATED: JUL 17, 2021 Dark mahogany brown with a thin beige head that quickly disappears. Aroma, cherries, raisins, dried fruits in alcohol, prunes. Taste, rich, fruity, syrupy mouth feel, cordial, dried fruit, demerera, chocolate. Smooth, robust flavour - almost like a fortified wine. Special beer.

UPDATED: NOV 28, 2020 This is a really nice dubbel. Ticks all the boxes. Fruity and medium sweet. Malt dominance. Medium on the abv. All round tasty beer. One to buy again.

UPDATED: NOV 6, 2020 Bottle online from Beerhouseshop.be. Pours a very dark brown colour with a large thick throthy beige head. Aromas of dry dark fruits, caramel with hints of chocolate and brown sugar. Taste has more dry dark fruits, caramel, chocolate with added notes of liquorice and molasses. Light to medium body with average carbonation. Not bad. Average Dubbel.
