On tap at the brewery. An awesome weizenbock - their take of Aventinus. It is very close in flavor - chocolaty, bananas, spice and alcohol. Probably what Aventinus would taste like fresh.

RBSG 05. Very well made weizenbock. Lots of traditional yeast aromas like clove and hints of banana and other fruits. Flavor of fruits yeast, phenols, a hint of vanilla in the end. A good amount of wheat and yeast make this fairly smooth on the palate.

Deep brownish copper. Wheaty brown sugar nose, bananas, earthy and rooty chocolate. Nice fruitiness all throughout, this sure does respect the style like a textbook. Sweet and tart combination on the palate that goes from bananas to cane sugar and mellow estery profile. Pancakey sweetness may be a bit too much and the carbonation feels a bit low, perhaps the growler was not in ideal shape, because it also felt particularly light yet a bit sticky.

[bottle at RBSG 2005] Orangy brown and clear with a tight ring and a very tiny little head. Bubblegum banana and sweet malt aroma. The flavour is sourish banana with bubblegum and phenolics. Very low bitterness. Light to medium body and moderate carbonation.

07.08.05 RBSG Brownish gold, little head. Graham cracker crusted banana pie with spices. Very yummy. Not the alcohol presence I hope for in the style.

Clean cloves cleverly clinging to the sweet fruit salad...Leafy wheat brushing gently against the precise citrusy enlightenment...Dessert-y refreshments are always welcome when they are so well-crafted...

Pour was amber brown with a small dense khaki head...smell is gingerbread, yeast, banana...taste was much the same...sweet with some spices toward the end ...wheat is quite noticable...some alcohol in the finish...

Growler sampled at the RBSG ‘05 bottle tasting courtesy of Walt: Pours a transparent dark brown with a thin, whispy, light tan head. Great authentic wheaty and bready German yeasty aroma. Body is sweet and sticky, yet dry, bready and well-balanced, but kinda thins toward the finish. Otherwise, a very authentic rendition and another nice Bitter End brew.

One of the best offerings I have had from BE. Nice sweetness and the alcohol was well hidden. Became a bit cloying after the 4th glass ( I brought home a growler and had no one to share with ).

Tap. Hazy-brown, kinda cool looking in the snifter glass. Very complex aroma: alcohol, banana-clove, faint holiday spice, apples. Very nice followthrough into the fresh and crisp flavor. Smooth, full bodied, well-done. The best BE offering since Tim left.
