UPDATED: JUL 3, 2021 Growler @ Home. Thanks, Shawn! Cloudy golden beer with a tall white head. Huge pineapple, passion fruit, and mango on the nose along with grapefruit and stone fruit. Incredibly juicy beer with a ton of tropical and citrus flavors. Sweet fruit and a touch of malt. Just enough bitterness to balance things out. Nice body and carbonation. Enjoyed this beer.

UPDATED: FEB 16, 2021 (355ml can shared by Quentin @ Luc's, Oct 19/19) Pours hazy gold with a thick white head. Notes of mango, sweet orange, melon, white grape, lots of fresh wet leaves, slight cannabis and grass with smooth biscuit malt, moderately sweet and juicy up front but finishing moderately bitter with grass, leaves and orange peel into the aftertaste. Medium-plus body with plush soft mouthfeel and carbonation, no alcohol. Really nice elegant DIPA with a good hop profile and the deftness you expect from HF.

ElDesmadre (6867) - Jaworze, POLAND - MAY 5, 2020
UPDATED: MAY 5, 2020 Can. Lots of citrus, amazingly juicy, with notes of gasoline and light spring onion. Didn't like the sulphury hop notes though the juiciness managed to come up for that.

Alengrin (11026) - Gent, BELGIUM - MAR 15, 2019
UPDATED: MAR 18, 2019 The ninth edition in this series of DIPAs by the renowned Hill Farmstead, one of the 'designers' of the New England or Vermont style that swept the world. Canned on January 2nd of this year and recommended to be consumed ultra-resh, i.e. by mid-February, so strictly speaking my sample (a 355 ml can) is already a month past its 'best before' date - but I am already thankful, and flabbergastered, that I was able to buy a can in the first place so I'm not complaining. Irregularly edged, very mousy, frothy, egg-white, bubbly but closed and stable head, completely cloudy ('soupy') robe, deep peach-orangey blonde with yolk-yellow edges. Quite intoxicating aroma, bursting with exotic citric effects (finger lime, kumquat, kaffir lime leaf even) of the Motueka flanked by equally strong and gorgeous 'white grapeyness' of the Nelson Sauvin, supported by classic freshly squeezed orange-like Amarillo, with side notes of fresh chives cream cheese, ginger chicken masala, Surinam peanut sauce, raw celeriac, spiced bread dough, dried habañero peppers, Japanese deep-fried shrimp, curcuma powder, a perfumey sweetness of mango and tropical orchids lurking underneath. Utterly fruity onset in an exotic, sultry way, deceptively sweetish with sourish edges, hinting at exotic citrus fruit again, kumquat, rambutan, lime, nectarine, softly carbonated, with an extremely soft, fluffy, bit powdery-dusty mouthfeel; this fluffy 'bed' of doughiness has a cereally core but is completely covered under a heavy load of tropical hoppiness, bursting with flavour in a most exotic, spiced, perfumey and zesty way, with the Indian and Surinam cuisine, tropical citrus and light cream cheese all making their appearance once again. Ends extremely juicy, exotic fruit juice indeed but with a powdery, 'yellow-green', bit resinous hop bitterness to it, lingering for a long time, with drying, spicy effect amidst - and beyond - the juiciness; something soapy lurks in the background as well. I was aware of Hill Farmstead's highly elevated level of quality when it comes to IPAs but had very few of them - so I am very grateful that I was able to taste this example, which to me only confirms that Shaun Hill is truly not just one of the instigators, but still a grand maestro of the Vermont ale style. I had my fair share of NEIPAs in the meantime and grew tired of them, to be frank, but if all of them had tasted like this, I could keep drinking them till my final day on this planet. Absolutely stunning, this brings me back to my first sip of Alchemist's Heady Topper and other highlights in the NEIPA field - so I cannot but grant this a top score even if it was already one single month too old according to the brewer's commendations...

Klimaet (3744) - Aarhus N, DENMARK - FEB 16, 2019
UPDATED: FEB 16, 2019 Can thanks to Nic! Pours hazy golden with a medium frothy white head. Aromas of mango, citrus, oranges, cantaloupe, slight herbal, wet grass. Taste is just absolutely perfect. Mango, pineapple, melon, oranges, subtle piney, light herbal dank ish, sweet but with a good hop backbone and just a slight bit malty. This is definitely one of the best IPAs I've ever had!
