COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We’re big fans of the classic old fashioned a 19th Century cocktail traditionally made by muddling sugar with butters then adding whiskey and a twist of citrus. This is our take with barley wine as the base as the base beer and the classic orange zest to serve. It’s been in barrels for 12 months picking up a well rounded bourbon profile with some vanilla and caramel sweetness. Bitters optional

CraftBeerNick (9215) - Wokingham, Berkshire, ENGLAND - FEB 2, 2020
UPDATED: FEB 2, 2020 Bottle at home from Siren, 2nd February 2020. Pours a chestnut brown. Aroma is bourbon, sweet, fruit. Taste is syrupy, the whiskey is there, some barrel, very sweet, thick body, light citrus, some sharper edges towards the finish and liquor plus more sweetness, good, but probably a little too sweet.

Mr.Spooks (4973) - Tennessee, USA - OCT 1, 2019
UPDATED: OCT 1, 2019 Very English, full of toffee, caramel, cocoa, and molasses, backed up by modest bourbon notes with traces of orange, maple, and oak. Good, but very, very sweet, in need of some American hopping to balance out the sugars.

Brown colour, not much head. Rich malt nose and flavour, sweet, with lots of bourbon; no orange; touch of Port in the finish.
There are more complex Barley Wines, but at least this is rich enough. Excellent.

mcberko (41826) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - MAR 15, 2019
UPDATED: MAR 15, 2019 330mL bottle, pours a deep dark mahogany with a very quickly dissipating beige head. Aroma is quite decadent, with lots of bourbon barrel character upfront, followed by a touch of orange zest, toffee, and caramel. Flavour is extremely sweet, with heaps of brown sugar and caramel upfront, accentuated by bourbon barrels that round this out. However, this gets borderline cloying in sweetness with each sip. It's decadent, but can get to be a bit much.
