Dank IPA. Star Snake Dank IPA bursts with fresh resiny and earthy hop aromas, a bright golden ale with a complex flavor. It is out of this world! (from label) Kinkaider Legend In 1967 Herbert Schirmer, a local sheriff, came across a UFO on the crossroads of Hwy 6 & 63 outside Ashland, NE. He was abducted by a humanoid race of alien beings that were very reptilian in appearance. These Star Snakes came in peace, but this fateful night would be with Herb for the remainder of his days. UPDATED: AUG 31, 2023 Ever so slightly hazy copper and bronze coloured body with a thin, single centimetre tall off-white head that stays afloat for a while. Aroma of grass, pine, earth, a dash of flowers with some light candy sweetness here as well. Light to Medium-bodied; Strong grassy and herbal flavours show at first with a bunch of pine and bitter hops provide the depth with a noticeable malt and slightly wheatie finish with some enjoyable sweetness from candy at the end. Aftertaste shows a good balance of malt, hops and sugars that hit nicely and the bitterness from the dry and grassy hops is very nice and crisp for the style. Overall, a solid, enjoyable and well-structured IPA with a good bitterness and smooth sweetness with a robust, rich malt backbone throughout. Good to try and very respectable for the style. Nice to bring back from Nebraska and worth the space in my suitcase! I sampled this twelve ounce can, purchased from Russ's Market in Lincoln, Nebraska on 24-August-2021 for US$1,67 and sampled at my house here in Washington on 06-June-2022.

UPDATED: MAR 5, 2021 12oz can pours a translucent orange with a three finger cap of white head. Nose has grapefruit and soap, honey, herbs. Nose is decidedly old school. A little crackery even. Flavor hits with the bitterness, raw orange and grapefruit, some piney character now, grass, straw. A little tropical fruit lurks, but this isn't trying to be new money. Finishes medium bodied, bitter.

UPDATED: MAY 12, 2020 Can poured into a tulip glass. Gold color with a thin, bubbly white head. Aroma is very pungent of citrus and pine. Initial taste is a nice balance between citrus, pine, earthy tones, and a hint of booze. Fades to resin, but not bitter. Body is light as is carbonation. This has got a lot of really great characteristics to it. Poured the rest and got sediment in my glass. REALLY wish this was a bottle so I knew there was sediment.

UPDATED: MAY 10, 2020 Not too often you find a beer that self consciously hype its dank-i-ness, but glad this one did. Malty and, yes, dank. Some citrus and grass. Picked up a bottle at Hyvee in 2020.

UPDATED: APR 15, 2019 This is the Kinkaider IPA that I've been hoping for. Star Snake is indeed as dank as it promises. This lightly hazy orange IPA smells like grass clippings, pine needles, leaves, and cannabis. Those characteristics describe the flavor as well. There's a somewhat fruity undercurrent with tropical fruits and floral honey. The resinous bitterness does come on a bit strong, but I tend to be pretty forgiving of that kind of thing. This was a delight to have on tap.

UPDATED: APR 11, 2019 Draft. A- Spruce, pine, floral. A- Gold color, hazy liquid, white head. T- Floral, herbal, mild bitterness. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, floral finish. O- This reminded me of walking into a garden center or floral shop in early spring. It was overloaded with floral and herbal notes throughout the nose and palate. So many flowery scents and flavors I couldn't make up my mind with what exactly I was picking up. Had this fresh almost right out of the tank. Quality stuff.
