Tap @ Shorts: Rebrewed for their anniversary. A shade away from pitch black, bubbly & beige head sits up above. Aroma is a nice blend of cocoa powder, toasted caramel, & a dense blend of really, really roasted malt. The taste is a super dry & super roasted malt kick. Honestly one of the driest & most heavily roasted malt profiles I’ve yet to taste in a stout. Char, unsweet cocoa dust, black coffee beans, ashy roast, & a huge, finishing bite of dry bitterness. I’m a fan of roasty stouts but even this one would be hard to drink in large quantities. Still pretty good, but just a touch of sweetness would go a long way to make this "great".

On tap: The aroma consists of dark chocolate, roasted coffee, nuts, and a touch of vanilla. It’s a dark brown with some orange highlights and a small beige head. The flavor starts with a quick dose of chocolate. The finish has moderate roasted nuts and light black coffee. It’s light-medium bodied with soft carbonation and mouthfeel.

750 ml bottle shared with the group picked up at Short’s in 2007 or 2008. Pours a dark brown to black color with a small beige head. The aroma and flavor have roasted malts, cocoa, dark fruits, earth, soy, thinner than when it was fresh, but I think it has held up pretty well given its age.

Tap at Brickhouse pre GTMW 2013. Big chocolate tones. Really sessionable for the ABV. Big brown chocolate tones. Really easy drinking. Super sweet.

RBWG14 Trip Rating #125. Bottle shared by deyholla at the Grand Tasting. Pours a dark brown color with a thin tan head. Decent head retention. Aroma of tart vegetal notes, carob, earth. The taste is roasted malts, chocolate, herbal and vegetal notes. Medium bodied.

Bottle share late night RBWG. Old bottle: 6-8 years, really. Pours rich brown with a creamy tan head. Lots of chocolate here, earth, faint tangy dark fruits. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Sweet finish, more tangy dark malts, dirt, baking cocoa. Sub par.

Brown black pour with tan head and lace. Aroma is sweet chocolate and roasted malt, Chocolate flavor, nice malt bitter and good warmth. Medium/full body with good carbonation. nice beer

750 ml bottle shared by alexsdad06- thanks again, Brad! 2007 vintage. Pours a deep brown with amber edges and a small beige ring. Notes of chocolate, soy, dark fruits (dates, figs), earth, and burnt toast. Light-medium bodied, with a fruity, savory mouthfeel and low carbonation. Has certainly lost body and carbonation over the years and picked up some of that soy character, but it’s still not a bad imperial stout.

Bottle shared by alexsdad06. Poured a black color with an average frothy brown head that lasted with good lacing. Moderate to heavy toasted chocolate, coffee, vanilla and soft alcohol aroma. Medium to heavy dark sweet toasted dark chocolate malt flavor with a medium to heavy dark sweet finish of moderate to long duration. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. This is still a solid beer.
