COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We set out to create a deliciously hoppy American wheat beer that wasn't as burly as our normal I.P.A.s but still satiated the hophead inside of us. What came out was Rot Geist (Red Ghost) American Red Wheat. It's a reddish hued American Wheat made with Summit, Centennial, and Amarillo hops with an additional dry hopping of 1lb/bbl Amarillo for aroma.

Very dry, especially carbonated finish with sharp hoppy edge. Nicer fresh nose, grassy. A weird beer because the taste/hops makes you expect a much heavier mouthfeel, but its extremely light.

allspice and cream pear/hop nose. big bouncing carbonation, large smooth head that melted into a wet whip cream texture. hop challa nutty pepper finish. #300 MJ/MK

Very different wheat. Hazy apricot color, low sweet candied malt, cake aroma. Let this one settle for a minute, Flavor is light floral hops on the back end, some acidic carbonation, almost seltzery. Thanks lopes.

Pours a deep, dark, rusty/copper under a full, creamy head which sheet-laces the entire glass. Perfumed with intense florals, PNW character still pushes through with piney resplendence while a gentle caramel sweetness joins in late. Flavor is sharp & piney but well-grounded by a thick malt background. Though classified a 'wheat ale' this is another 'IPA' which I could drink pint after pint of. Dry finish with alcohol astringence. Damn near perfect. (And then at the end of my notes I drew a little stick figure clapping.)

From an old notebook. I think I had this at the end of last summer at Gene’s party.

pours dark red, frothy tannish head with nice lacing. aroma is florally hoppy, grapefruit and evergreen. not a hint of whet in the flavor, but loads of hoppy grapefruit and evergreen. quite enjoyable and bitter finish. delicious refreshing bitter fun. also this is the highest rating for a beer so far. i will have revisit some of my favorite brews to see if they should be up here too.

On tap at the 2007 GTMW: Hoppy, piney/amarillo aroma, which come across as a touch grassy. Flavor is pine, citrus, harsh hops, and candi sugar.

On tap at the 2007 GTMW: Pours a bright transparent orange amber with a thin, wispy-lacing off-white head. Real fresh sweet dark wheat and lots of piny resiny hops in the nose. Body starts fairly full and toasty malty but not overly sweet with a great balance of crisp, fresh hops. Very smooth, drinkable and flavorful, a great American wheat ale!

Tap with sersdf at the maproom. Solid but unremarkable. I didn’t even realize it was a wheat until I read the description here, so that’s that about the wheat thing. Definitely drinkable, with a hop finish.

draft at maproom. dark opaque red brown. smell isn’t wheaty at all. hopppy and sourdough. smooth and balanced but hoppy bitterness. great. drinkable. really nothing american wheat about this. pretty much just a good solid beer.

On draft at Map Room, Chicago. Almost reminded me of a rye ale-- with the dry finich and almost chalky mouth feel. A clean after taste with no cloying sweetness. I think I would like to try a version of this beer dry hopped with Centennial instead of Amarillo. It might tone down, yet sweeten up the hop profile a touch to nicely balance with the dry finish.
