COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Batch 4. From the original first 12 barrels purchased in 2012, only seven survived after two solera cycles. This batch is a blend of two of these barrels, blended with lambics from the second run of sherry barrels and back blended with a small portion of young 3 Fonteinen lambic. Hence, the average age of these lambics is still over 45 months. Because of the sensitivity of the lambic pellicle compared to the sherries, the solera method will be discontinued.

UPDATED: MAY 31, 2021 Popped this one for my 35th birthday. Hazy and glowing orange golden with medium white head. Nose and flavor of grapefruit, rich sherry barrel, horse butts, blood orange, champagne, minerals, wet oak, lemon, jizz stains, and other ripe citrus fruits. Might like this better than batch 5 and definitely batch 6 as far as newer vintages go.

UPDATED: JUL 12, 2020 Part 2of the great Zenne Y Frontera tasting. Descriptions limited to the differences. All batches same colour, save for Solera (Batch 2): No head, peachy-orange veiled beer. Way sharper nose, gooseberry, bit of acetic acid. Taste is sweeter, somewhat I malser /I , unripe peach flavour. Sharp MF, acidthinning and a lot of acidburn. Better carbonated than #3.

UPDATED: JUN 19, 2020 Bottle. 3F online. Who’d have thunk it? Pours a hazed, copper gold. Fine white head is fully lasting, and semi lacing. Sat in a Zenne glass, it looks the business. Nose has dried peel. Wood shavings. Dried, floral herb. Suede. Soft, musty funk. Caramelised nuts. It smells like being sat at 3F, really. Taste is tart, and a little dry, with soft, nutty sweetness. Definitely some fruity bitterness here. It’s all there, and really well balanced. Some sharpness on the palate. Stays smooth and fairly rich. Bright carbonation. Tart and sharp fruit on the finish, with the sherry nuttiness keeping it all in check. Beautiful.
