UPDATED: APR 23, 2021 Purchased at El Cerrito Liquor from Corona, California for $8.99, Genziana is a spiced/herbed ale crafted with gentian brewed by Birra del Borgo from Borgorose, Lazio, Italy. The scent of lemon, pear, caramel, and honey are felt upon the nose. The appearance is a copper amber that pours a low white head that dissipates quickly. Light changes the color to an orange amber, and reveals a hazy body along with tiny particulates. The alcohol content is 6.1%. Honey smoothens the drink, relatively sweetens the body, and tasted when you lick your chops. Pear juices the complexion and harmonizes with the honey. Caramel blends with the honey profile and lightly malts the mouthfeel. Demerara sugar imparts a toffee hue and a cane sugar touch that compliments the honey and caramel combination. Gentian gently bitters the take and lingers into the slightly dry finish. Lemon provides an underlying tone and sensible with the pear outline. Genziana is an elegant spiced/herbed ale. Honey, pear, caramel malt, demerara sugar, gentian, and lemon combine into a delicious craft beer. Pear and lemon flavors the honeyed body. Demerara sugar gives off a complimentary toffee tint to the honey and caramel malt mixture. The bitter gentian is overpowered by the honey and juicy fruit complexion, yet light on the take and during the finish. UPDATED: JUN 26, 2020 Eine Kreation, die man mögen muss. Es ist auf jeden Fall sehr speziell und nicht so leicht zu bekommen, wie mir die Wirtin mitteilte. Es hat wirklich einen deutlichen Geschmack nach der mitverbrauten Enzianwurzel vor einem malzigen Hintergrund. Allerdings kommt auch so ein komischer Ton nach Kren und Kartoffel dazu, der mir nicht behagt. Wer gerne Enzianschnaps oder Gin oder rohes Knollen-Gemüse mag, kann zugreifen. Mir ist es zu abstrus.

UPDATED: APR 18, 2020 Birra dal gusto particolare, dove il dolce del malto viene sovrastato dall'erbaceo e dallo speziato. Non male e sicuramente diversa dalle altre.

Draft - Sweet hard lemon candy. Clear gold with a decent white head. Sweet light hard candy notes. Light dry finish. Not sure if I get the radish.

Birra alle erbe molto particolare, l'aroma infatti è speziato con note floreali. Il sapore tuttavia non è troppo ben bilanciato, con note erbacee, malto e floreali. Retrogusto dolciastro. Discreta nel complesso, ma un po' deludente.

375 ml bottle. Honey gold pour. Small creamy beige head. Slightly citrusy, lemony malt notes. Herbal, citrusy notes. Thin and light bodied. OK.

Jan. 17. A 0.33 l bottle at Regina del Formaggio, Split. It poured a hazy darker golden to amber body with a small head. Fine but weaker arom, fruity, yeasty, lightly herbal - a nice Belgian touch. Flavor was very lightly on the sweeter side, lightly herbal and floral with some gentian that indeed gives a note of "entian" things my granma uses. Not bitter though, just spicy. Otherwise quite a typical belgian ale, well balanced, medium bodied with moderately long tasty finish.

UPDATED: MAR 26, 2018 Hazy golden, with big white head. Malt , grain, some spices and herbs in aroma. Sweet malty taste with gentle bitterness at the end.

Bottiglia. Il gusto al naso viene catturato dallo speziato. L'intensità olfattiva è elevata e il modo in cui permane è sufficiente. Il cappello di schiuma ha una scarsa tenuta. La grandezza delle bollicine è a grana media. Il liquido appare velato. La carbonazione è praticamente piatta. Il colore è giallo dorato. Il corpo è strutturato. L'amaro è carico. L'intensità gustativa è elevata. La costanza gustativa è buona. Il gusto è piacevole. Le sensazioni boccali che permangono sono di amaro. Il finale è amaro, lungo, pulito e complesso. Il retrogusto è intenso. Al gusto vengono donati toni di miele, pepe bianco, frutta secca e pesca.

Bottled 330ml. -Darker golden coloured, small white head, mild flowery/vegetables nose. Sweetish malty, light vegetables, mild spicy hoppy and probably notes of gentian with dry spicy bitterish finish. Odd but not bad.
