Aromas of yeast, raisin and vanilla. It tastes of bread, yeast and grass. The grass flavor lingers. It’s a decent blond. Abio (63), Belgium

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 23, 2010 Cloudy gloden color with fizzy white head. Aroma has hints of vanilla, caramel and orange. Wow, taste is very sweet and complex, orange, coriander, banana, cloves, caramel, floral-grassy-earthy notes. Rich and spicy. Very fizzy on the palate. Some alcohol burn. This is good but too sweet. ricke (373), Malme, Sweden

Slightly hazy golden yellow color with a big white head. Quite a lot of lacings.
The smell is estery with lots of different fruit aromas, and notes of malts, earthy yeast and slightly phenolic sweetish alcohol.
The flavor is very sweet with prominent notes of dried fruits. Sweet caramel malts, earthy yeast and grass. The finish is mildly bitter with plenty of sweet somewhat phenolic alcohol.
Quite full-bodied with a sticky texture despite aggressive carbonation.
Decent. A bit too sweet and the alcohol slightly too prominent. alexanderj (2327), Chino Hills, California, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 17, 2010 Bottle; pored a slightly ruddy and hazy amber/gold color with a white head. Classic appearance. Aroma of Belgian yeast, fruit, citrus/lemon and spice/orange. Flavor had some wit like elements. Yeasty and orange. Solid amount of carbonation. Long finish. Nice beer. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 16, 2010 Suprisingly bright colour, small particles in the liquid gives a really nice impression. Aroma and taste are both the traditional belgian with a bit of banana. Taste is sweet and a bit of alcohol. A very nice belgian. andersand (435), Malmö, Sweden
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 13, 2010 Clear golden colour with a dense white head. Aroma is extremely estery of pear, apple and oranges. Flavour is sweet and dense with lots of esters and warming but still suprisingly balanced alcohol. Sweet and big but not over the top. Overall nice and clean with lots of esters. Body is sticky but at the same time quite lively and medium full. Rastacouere (5572), Montréal, Quebec, Canada
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Jan 7, 2010 Straight golden ale covered by an elegante white cover which produces more than honest Belgian lacing for a beer of this alcohol content. Profoundly phenolic nose with medicinal touches as well as sharp banana laden esters. Alcohol is more than obvious, though this culminates in mouth where I would have estimated it to be even stronger than its 10%. Chewy, thick body with the typical Het Anker almost excessive sweetness. In their other beers, the sheer complexity makes it work, but the sticky sweetness paired with the obtuse alcohol and subtlety devoided yeast quickly become tiring. Especially that I feel no bitterness at all. Just minute herbal hints sometimes manage to peak through the bready, or moreso cakey airiness. A fat biscuit this is. Furthermore, it becomes enormously clovey/liquorice oriented flavour profile - a trait that just enhances as it warms up. Those flavours remind of a weizenbock, though the alcohol content is through the roof and there’s no wheatiness, nor caramelized sugars. Rating finished, 600 ml left, ugh..
