22 oz bottle from we don’t even know when shared by Gus. The pour is a copper color with almost no head and definitely no lace. The aroma is very oaky and wood heavy with a strong strange spiciness about it. There is a sweet malt and some fruits but and a heavy cardboard going on. This is just not good. The flavor is wet cardboard and a lot of sweet fruits. There is an interesting oak to this but it’s just messy and all over the place. The mouth feel is light and has no carbonation with a lingeringly sweet dark fruit and wet cardboard. This one is long past it’s prime, if there was one of those at this point. Damn.

Bottle that was aged in my basement for 3 years. Poured cloudy dark orange/red. Tiny tan head. Big malty aroma with lots of Alcohol and I guess Oak. Some of the flavors detected were caramel, malted sugarand butterscotch. The good thing was that there was a lot of malt. The bad thing was there was not enough to mask the alcohol. A very over whelming drink.

From bottle in snifter. Cloudy pale orange with off white head. Nose is yeasty, oranges. Light body, medium carbonation, smooth. Good.

Dark copper color , with small off-white head. Aroma of caramel, vanilla , spices , dark fruits. Sweet , caramel taste with fruits and wood , however sweetness is not overwhelming. Gentle bitterness in the finish and some boozy notes.

22 ounce bottle into snifter; bottled in 2008, so around 6.5 years old. Pours slightly hazy ruby red/copper color with a 1 finger dense light khaki head with solid retention, that reduces to a spotty cap that lingers. Some light spotty lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of huge raisin, plum, fig, date, apricot, apple, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, toasted bread, vanilla, oak, light nuttiness, light herbal, and oak/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/bready malt, fruitiness, and oak notes; with good strength. Taste of huge raisin, plum, fig, date, apricot, apple, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, toasted bread, vanilla, oak, light nuttiness, light herbal, and oak/toasted earthiness. Light amount of herbal/oaky bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of raisin, plum, fig, date, apricot, apple, caramel, toffee, toast, vanilla, and oak/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Damn nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malt, fruitiness, and oak flavors; with a great malt/oak balance and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Light carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a very smooth, moderately creamy, and slightly slick mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is extremely well hidden with minimal warming lingering after the finish. Overall this is an excellent oak aged strong ale! All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malt, fruitiness, and oak flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the big ABV. A very enjoyable offering.

Clear red brown colour, white head. Aroma of caramel, green tomatoes, leather. Sweet malty flavour, caramel, apple sauce, dates. Light bitter finish, malts, caramel, apple, vanilla, brown sugar and koetjesreep.

650ml bottle. This bottle is not as oxidized as I was expect but still lots of cherry notes, sweet and spicy, old musty leather. Decent.

Clear red to deep orange beer, small aery irregular beige head, unstable, non adhesive, dissipates quickly. Aroma: bit nutty, caramel, vanilla, wood touch, sweet, alcoholic. MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: sweet start, caramel, vanilla, cherry liquor, almonds, marzipan, some alcohol. Aftertaste: slightly bitter, caramel, some tannins, chocolate, vanilla, "ersatz chocolate" (Koetjesreep, for all ye low country inhabitants, remember it? ;-), dried fruits, alcohol, fudge, bit of overripe banana.

Sample from 65 cl. bottle. Hazy, amber colour with no head. Sweet aroma with fruits, rich caramel malts, light booze, sweet nuts and spices. Hardly any bitterness. Taste is sweet. Full body with a flat carbonation. Finishes dry and fruity with caramel malts. Looks like the hops is gone. Otherwise pleasant.
