UPDATED: APR 12, 2024 March 2025. Back in Egypt. Drunk this at Khufu's Restaurant overlooking the pyramids, and on a Cairo evening cruise with belly dancing and whirling dervish dancers. I like it better than the other Cairo regular beer, Stella, but not by much. This is ok. A fairly regular pale lager. [2.6] Oct 2002. Having just spent a week on the Nile where this was the only beer readily available I am surprised to find some people (notably mostly Egyptians!) have given it a high rating. Pleasant enough for a country which doesn't have a history of brewing beer [OK - I should perhaps say recent history. Despite the Nubian beer 'boosa' giving us our familiar word 'booze', the ancient Egptian beer bears little resemblance to what we drink today - no malt, no hops, but plenty of fermented bread and fruit] - the Egyptians seem to have a knack for reasonable copies, their red wine was quite delicious - it was still a little too lifeless to consider buying if there was any sort of choice. Stella Artois seemed to be the common consensus for the nearest comparable beer. [1.2]

UPDATED: APR 9, 2024 One of two beers available at our holiday resort (the other was Stella Lager) - clear straw colour with a small, bubbly white head and just a hint of light malt on the nose. Fresh, sweet and grassy with a tiny slug of hop bitterness

UPDATED: DEC 16, 2023 Una normale lager molto leggerà dal colore giallo pallido e la schiuma fine. Il profumo è maltato e leggermente floreale, in bocca ha un gusto poco deciso.

UPDATED: APR 13, 2023 Stupenda main egyptian beer fresca come una rosa calda del mattino. Bilanciamento cromatico impeccabile come suole osservarsi nei quadri di steatosi. Se fosse foco arderebbe. Il finale é setticemico

UPDATED: JAN 23, 2022 500ml can from Gillian as a souvenir. Pours a clear golden colour with a small head that dissipates quickly. Aromas of citrus, pine, and grains. Taste matches the aroma with some honey notes. Light bodied with moderate carbonation. Not bad....

UPDATED: SEP 2, 2019 0,5l bottle from friend. Big, long lasting head. Pale gold almost clear colour. Aroma is malty, skunky, grassy, bit caramel. Taste is light malty base, honey, caramel, bit herbal, weak bitterness, watery body, weak carbonation, very average.
