3.4 Denison's Spezial Weissbier Dunkel A reddish amber weizen with a thick moka head. In aroma, pleasant fruity esters with light nutty notes. In mouth, a nice sweet smooth malt with bananas, cloves, berries, a bit of licorice, oily mouthfeel, medium bodied. On tap at Volo, August 7 2010. Sunday, August 22, 2010

3.5 Denison's Spezial Weissbier Dunkel Draught, at C’Est What Spring Festival, May 29, 2010. Murky brownish-amber pour with a thick creamy lasting straw-coloured head (4+, looked great!). Mouthwatering aroma, thick sweet yeast, banana, a hint of cocoa, and raisin - not boozy. The flavour let me down a touch - I was expecting big bold maltiness and flavour for days - it seemed a bit wan, both the fruit and yeast really didn’t deliver - not bad (7-) but I wanted to have my socks blown off, and that just didn’t happen - the cocoa didn’t emerge, just some slightly earthy bitterness and a grassiness I didn’t get in the nose. While the flavour profile was weak, it was oddly thick-bodied, but it was also a little still, and the quick-finishing malt body really left a generic fruit (banana and apple) sweet aftertaste, not the bold yeasty goodness the aroma promised. Still good enough, and maybe I was just expecting too much. Monday, June 21, 2010

3.9 Denison's Spezial Weissbier Dunkel [2748-20100204] Tap. Banana fudge brownies aroma with wheatie brown sugar caramel hints. Hazy, brown amber body with a long-lasting creamy off-white head. Banana wheat caramel flavour has a little rough alcohol. Medium body. Wow, quite tasty, just a tad boozy. (@ Volo; Toronto, ON) Tuesday, March 16, 2010

3.8 Denison's Spezial Weissbier Dunkel Draught at Volo. Orange-brown with a thin tan head. Aroma is just as expected from this hybrid - mixture of clove, yeast, slight banana, roast and mild cocoa. Mouthfeel is medium and slightly creamy. Flavour follows with the same notes as the aroma. Really nice! Sunday, March 14, 2010

3.1 Denison's Spezial Weissbier Dunkel Enjoyed on tap at Chauncey Smith in appropriate glassware. Brown colour, minimal had, lacing followed. Average mouthfeel. The cloves come out, not the bannana, the sweetness of the dunkel makes it drinkable. On a whole it’s unoffensive. Neutral aroma. Wednesday, March 10, 2010

3.6 Denison's Spezial Weissbier Dunkel On tap at Chancey SMith’s- Deeply hazed and murky mocha, has a thick and creamy off white cap that laces well. Nose of spices (clove mostly), banana, yeasty esters, milk chocolate, earthy malts. Tastes somewhat sweet, of banana, clove, a bit nutty, milk chocolate. Very drinkable, medium body, creamy. Very good. Monday, March 8, 2010

3.5 Denison's Spezial Weissbier Dunkel 2010-02-04. Hazy chestnut brown body, modest foamy beige head and lace. 4+ Flavour is interesting, mild weiss base with light caramel notes and nutty highlights (or are chestnuts on my mind after describing the body as such?) a sharp bitterness at times almost like a hard water note but not? The bitterness is not unpleasant but noticeable. 7+ Aroma is mild, sweet wheaty esters, light nutty grains. 7+ Smooth medium bodied palate is pleasant. Quaffable, but the overall impression is on the mild side. Usually I ask for more wess and less dunkel, but in this case I think a bit more of the dunkel aspects would give it a touch more oomph. On tap at Volo, Toronto Monday, February 8, 2010

3.8 Denison's Spezial Weissbier Dunkel Tap@Volo Pours to a cloudy bronze in thickest part of glass. Minimal head which dissipates fairly quick but leaves some light lacing. Moderate carbonation. A very suitable candied fruit nose and you can tell this beer has a ton of personality, while maintaining a well rounded character and very rich and velvety on the palate. There’s a lot going on but didn’t find it overpowering. Could feel the alcohol without it being boozy. Delicious. Thursday, February 4, 2010

3.5 Denison's Spezial Weissbier Dunkel It tastes like what it is... very interesting and complex, but can be a bit overwhelming at times. It has a sharp metallic finish that makes it pretty characteristic. Tuesday, February 2, 2010

4.3 Denison's Bock YUMMMY Bock!!! Mike does it again!!!! It is impossible to have a bad beer here. This beer is another increadibly wonderful offering by the Denison''s Brewery. Big malt character with Vienna malt coming through in droves. It is more heavily hopped than the classics and I like this a lot as it give this resounding play with the malt and hops that you only find in rare beers although it is common from this brewer. Denisons is a required stop for any Rate Beerian, beer amateur and german who sets foot anywhere neer the city of Toronto. Saturday, January 4, 2003

4.5 Denison's Marzen You have to love the work of Micheal Hancock and his crew. The Marzen is another wonderful creation. Chestnut brown in colour with excellent head retention, this beer is malty, clean, crisp, nutty and hoppy all at once. Their is a lingering tango of those flavours on your palate for a long time after you sample the brew. Sunday, September 29, 2002

3.6 Denison's Marzen Oktoberfest day are on the run and so are my days! I was born in October; I love BMWs that are from the Bavaria Munich, October fest parties ... Munich again...Ahhh... and I the midlle is Radek :). Yesterday together with Doug we were lucky to try new 2002 Marzen. I looked great (dark amber, with thick creamy head), it was smooth, drinkable and by any means wasn’t watery. Fresh stuff, great bitterness, nice aftertaste. Saturday, September 28, 2002

3.1 Denison's Raspberry Wheat Light red, hazy; huge raspberry nose; very fruity palate, drying out in the finish. Not bad for style - come to think of it, I can't remember the last time I bothered to taste one of these things. Saturday, August 24, 2002

3.5 Denison's Raspberry Wheat Definitely an imaginative brew. The base is a Weizen but with a lactic character that lends itself well with the raspberry flavor. It is a very tart refreshing beer with all the visual qualities of a weizen. Wednesday, August 21, 2002

3.3 Denison's Smoked Marzen Bright reddish-copper. I wish they would use a more robust glass to serve this in than the modified weizen glass they prefer, but otherwise it looks great. Caramalty, toasted aroma; a fair deal of smokiness up front, fading into a firm, long finish that is malty but dry, and crackerlike. Not the most robust example, but well-structured and with enough smoke to get by. Wednesday, October 24, 2001

3.3 Denison's Miami Weisse It is supposed to be a berliner weisse, but is quite restrained. The full body, tan colour, and background phenols and malt make this a cross between Berlin and Bavaria. The finish is mildly acidic. They tried to put grenadine in my glass, which sounds more than just a little repulsive. It's a tasty pint, but needs more Berlin and less Bavaria for my money. They already have a great Bavarian wheat, they don't need another. Saturday, May 19, 2001
