330ml green bottle. Pours a clear pale gold with a medium, foamy, long lasting, off-white head that leaves soapy curtains of lace. Semi-sweet aroma of bready pale malt, honey and skunky hops. Sweet flavour of toasted grainy pale malt, honey, grass, faint lemon and spicy hops in a dry, mild bitter finish. Light body with a watery texture and average carbonation. Crushable. Pretty standard.

Bottle bought at a Kalamata hypermarket, drunk in Kalamaki under the orange trees. Hazy yellow-amber with a very tall, lasting head. Aroma of banana, citrus, and honey. Flavor is much more balanced and tasty than the black beer. Creamy mouthfeel, nice citrus touch like the US method of enjoying Paulaner Weißbier (with a lemon or orange slice). The honey adds a little sweetness and body. This is super refreshing after having run uphill a few hundred vertical meters into the olive trees earlier!

Volkan Santorini Black
Bought at a hypermarket and drunk south of Kalamata on Easter Saturday. Dark, almost black with a light brown head. Smells super malty, molasses wort. Tastes like a roasty stout with incomplete fermentation, despite the sweetness it's lacking body and the aftertaste is gone like Arrow when the police show up. Although I guess this is how you make a dark beer that's drinkable in the hot Mediterranean sun.

Bottle that I picked up in Patras, Greece. Had this Friday 10th December 2021 listening to Steve Lamaqs Evening Session on 6 Music, we had Fish, Chips and Mushy Peas for tea tonight. A little boiled lozenge aroma, sweet in the mouth, a little wheaty with a subtle fruity tang. Struggling to hit the heady height of simply being ok.

330ml bottle. Hazed pale pour, smallish head. Aroma is creamy sweet malt. Flavor is a bit homebrewey, it is dry with an autolyzed yeast note, honey, maybe some citrus lolipop, tart and low-body, meady and vinous. Not amazing.

Bottle picked up from a small mini market, Loutras, Kythnos, Greece and consumed on Asterion II, Anek Lines RoRo ferry en route from Igoumenitsa, Greece to Venice, Italy Friday 18th September 2020. Cannot tell the colour as drinking from my kleankanteen. Quite sweet from the off, honey, a little spice, but not much else to report, in fact if I didn't look at the bottle I would be unsure of the style. Ok.

For sure the worst beer i have try from "Voreia" brewery and the worst of the style. The beer has one unpleasand sourness and that is really annoying. The aroma has lemon, grapefruit and wheat nose and also some kind sourness. The taste is like that but the finish is really bad. The beer give you this unplesand sourness and has long duration. Also i notice some slightly metallic aftertaste. Anyway the carboration is moderate and the beer is refreshing. Overall is the worst beer for the style i have try right now and i suggest you to try another beer.

Standard pale lager with adjunct flavouring of honey and citron (which is not lemon); another of these Volkan beers from Santorini, I had a 'black' version before but never this original blonde one. At a Greek restaurant in Hulst in the southern Netherlands. Egg-white, mousy, dense and thick but slowly collapsing head on a clear, deep 'old gold' coloured beer with olive-greenish tinge. Aroma a bit lightstruck at first (cat pee), but this fades quickly to make room for impressions of breakfast cereals, chewing gum, drying grass, cold cooked pasta, wet flour, popcorn, dried flowers (the honey I suppose) and a vague, distorted background note of old dried lemon peel (the citron?). Rounded, very slick, cereally body, no real fruitiness, sweetish with prickly carbonation (very minerally and even unpleasantly stinging), thinnish and corn-ish but not blandly grain-sweet, with that grassy, floral and dried-spicy citron and honey touches subtly altering the flavour a bit in the end. Remains a badly disguised bland pale lager in all respects, though, with only the faintest grassy hop bitterish touch in the finish. Granted, the honey and the citron do add very slight accents, but in a very dull, 'dead' kind of way - and all too subtle to really make a difference with the masses of pale lagers flooding the planet. That said, I had much worse pale lagers than this one, too.

Very good "Pale Lager" to drink. The aroma is great for this style of beer. Many malty nose there. The taste is bittersweet with great mouthfeel for the style of the beer. The carboration make the beer to have many bubbles in your mouth and that make the beer less refreshing but still is fine. The finish is amazing and you get great extra bitterness in there. Also i notice some metallic taste after the first hit and that is the worst thing about this beer. Overall a decent beer to drink in the summer.
