3. 20 new Swedish breweries. - 177 at year shift, now 193, 4 more...
4. Drink less crappy beers, dosen’t correspond to goal 2 and 3 above. - Currently at 3,2.
5. 6 k beers. -58 missing

11.5 on the site, around 12.1K counting backlog. This one was probably do-able before I entered dirt-poor mode.
-2500 Virginia ratings.
2265 or so with the backlog. Again probably a reach.
-1000 North Carolina ratings.

1. Finish all 50 states (5 left. Need Alabama, Arkansas, Nevada, New Jersey, and Wyoming).
Just need Alabama, Arkansas, Wyoming. Should be easy to finish up.
2. Finish styles (Need a polotmavy) Would also like an Ice CIder/Ice Perry, Sake-Taru, and Sake-Honjozo.
Not sure if I’ll make it unless I want to do a couple trades. Can’t believe I didn’t get those two sakes while in Japan....sigh.
3. Get to 50 countries. (Need 14.)
At 41. 9 to go. Probably won’t reach it. Could have while I was in Japan but focused on sake instead. Since these original goals I’ve also added getting an African country to finalize having all continents.
4. Get to 100 place ratings. (Need 24.)
At 82. 18 to go. Won’t happen unless I travel outside of Nebraska. Not sure what my travel agenda looks like for the rest of the year but I’m out of vacation time at work already.
5. Hit 500 Nebraska beers and become #1 Nebraska rater. Only need about 60 to become #1. Approx. 275 to go to 500. Not sure if 500 is possible. Would take hitting every brewery in Lincoln/Omaha and a few remote ones elsewhere at least once every season and even them would be pushing it. Just depends on what everyone puts out this year. Hardest goal for sure, but a good tester.
239 to go to hit 500 Nebraska rates. Won’t happen. Logistically near impossible. Only 22 though to get to be the #1 rater of Nebraska beers.
6. Hit 2,000 rates (800 to go!)
508 more beers to get to 2,000. Will be close but might be able to hit it.
So 2nd half of 2016 goals are as follows:
1. Rate Alabama, Arkansas, Wyoming beers.
2. Rate a polotmavy, ice cider/perry, sake-taru, sake-honjozo.
3. Rate 9 new country beers (one of which is an African country).
4. Rate 18 new places.
5. Rate 22 new Nebraska beers. (239 just isn’t possible).
6. Rate 508 total beers.

1. Cut down on beer during the week
100%. I cheat sometimes, but I have dropped about a shirt size, and the discipline gets easier to maintain all the time.
2. Hold #1 for WA beers, beers rated in WA, and WA breweries
100%
3. Go from 100+ unrated active WA breweries to <50, even as more open in 16
On track. Down to 91 unrated, though we have added 31 new WA breweries to the DB in 16. That makes (I think) 52 new WA brewery rates this year. Seattle Beer Week events took down 17 in two nights. Thank goodness for SBW. Saved a lot of miles on my truck.
4. Get closer to 10+ rates for every style (at least knock down a couple more styles)
Not doing very well. Got an unblended lambic. One more scoop out of all 8 open styles.
5. Rate more places
34 new rates. Need 8 to break 300.
6. Go on a beer road trip, at least to a handful of western states
Partially done, or done in pieces. 3 road trips to Oregon, 6 long day trips to new breweries in WA. Only 2 states done so far this year though.
7. Rate more Fantome, Holy Mountain, De Garde, Block 15, Ale Apothecary, Rare Barrel, and SARA, among many others
Lots of the first 4, and a handful of the others. Definitely drinking more of my favorite styles, but have still rated 51 styles in the last 6 months. |

- meet as many Ratebeerians as possible --> I’ve met a constant stream of great people, on & off Ratebeer, so this one is going well. several more meetings set, starting in Amsterdam next week
- I’d also like to see HODOR again --> no luck yet
- continue progress toward rating at least 100 beers from every US state --> completed Kansas, R-Kansas, Arizona, Wyoming, Nevada & Mississippi (which completed every state east of the Missouri River). Six states left.
- visit/rate places in at least two RB countries that I’ve never visited. Like Hoboken --> Hoboken, no. No other new countries either, sadly. And nothing scheduled.
- visit/rate places in at least two Canadian provinces I’ve never visited --> still neglecting our northern neighbor.
- focus my travl on areas where I want to start my next beer/life adventure --> July search trip scheduled
- close the distance to Golden Troll by 50%, and do that every year until I get the award (think about that one) --> no idea on this one. can’t search for the Golden-troll-search-thread any more
- find the elusive sake-koshu style --> yet another fail
- rate places in five remaining English counties --> scheduled for the last week of June
SO - two accomplished and two scheduled, out of 8 goals plus HODOR. Pretty good I think. |
