The worst thing about it is that this inane trend amongst the drinkers encourages trends amongst the brewers, causing them to divert effort into doing whatever is the highly-raved-about garbage of the month. Be it using saison yeast in inappropriate contexts, souring everything ("throwing in a brett cube" as I like to call it), making super-sweet boozy BAs, or use of some fucked-up new hop. Which takes their focus off their actually good beers. Which is bad for those of us who actually like good beer.

Like Budweiser with their lame a-- "hard way" commercial, poking fun at something is usually indicative of feeling threatened.
