Unusually for me, I am brewing on the weekend, and it shall be a half-IPA (~1.035 OG), 100% El Dorado hops -- whole leaf, of course. Never used them before, but http://www.usahops.org/graphics/File/HGA%20BCI%20Reports/Variety%20Manual%207-24-12.pdf makes is sound promising.

How many ibus? How many ounces throughout?

Only had 4.3 oz of El Dorado, so the 1+ oz 60 min addition was Zeus. 1.8 oz each at 15 and 5 min, then the remaining .7 oz during chilling, after it’d dropped to 176°. *Theoretically* 135 IBU, so half as strong, but nearly "double" the bitterness of a conventional IPA.

Nice.

Care to share the recipe?

Sure. I just made a mosaic single hop pale ale and it is tasting great but wanted to see how it pairs with other hops.

Finally getting around to brewing this but the recipe is a little different. I am using simcoe, mosaic, nelson, and amarillo. I have us05 and the bry 97 available. Has anyone had any experience with the bry97 in an ipa like this?

Brewed 10 gal of an amber saison w/ citrus peal in the boil and 10 gal of a belgian wheat beer today. Also did all that racking I mentioned before. Almost all of the carboys are full, which feels really, really good!

More mead this weekend. Probably will end up with some orange peel in it. Next weekend, however, will be my first attempt at the style saison. Pretty stoked about it.

Anyone brew this weekend? I finally got a chance to brew a big hoppy monster for the spring, 2 row and munich with Nugget for bittering and Amarillo, Cascade and Citra for aroma to the tune of about 100ibu. Fermenting with S04 like a beast right now. Last week I also did 2 meads, one 3 gallon batch with clover honey, grapefruit and pepper as well as a 1 gallon batch with straight Tupelo honey from north Florida. Going to be lots to drink around here this summer.

Recipe?

This is what I did yesterday. Somewhat altered version of a recipe I found online.

Grains
8.5 lbs Belgian Pils (Castle)
1.5 lbs White Wheat
1 lb Rice Hulls
.5 lb Cara 45
.5 lb Flaked Oats

Hops
.75 oz Centennial @ 60
.5 oz Citra @ 10
.5oz Citra @ 5
1 oz Citra Dry Hop

Yeast
WYeast 3711 French Saison

Smooth brewday. Mashed at 149. Hit 1.051 so if I get down to 1.002 or so it should be around 6.4% ABV.

I am - http://images.adam-jackson.net/OzJp

Also, I just picked up a chest freezer and ordered a temp control unit so I can have better controls for fermentation!
