Let’s start this with some good news from Dalmatia, after the emormous blow that was the sudden non-reopening of Dva Tona in Split.

There’s a shop opening in Zadar in a couple of days, claiming to be the first beer store in Dalmatia - which is only half true. Ivana Trgovina (Mali Dućan Matejuška) in Split deserves full well to be called a full fledged beer store and the first in Croatia - but it’s a first store fully dedicated to beer. It will carry 150+ beers apparently and is called, adequately, Beer Geek Shop.

And more good, great even, things will be happening in Zadar, Split perhaps as well, so Dalmatia might finally offer an adequate selection in its biggest centres to the tourists and the locals this season.

This is not related to the Beer Geek Shop and Bar in Prague, is it?

Anyway, an interesting discovery. Karlovacko Primavera, Heineken Hrvatska’s new wheat lager with coriander is actually brewed in Poland and is identical to Zywiec Biale. Laughable, but still likely an improvement to their regular line.

Interesting event at the Garden Mall in Zagreb, just called "Beer Fest" this Saturday and Sunday. Most craft or craft-leaning or smaller brewers/breweries in Croatia will be there.

There will be one concert from some indieishpoprock band on each day, the visitors will choose the best beer (my bets are on something less impressive because Croatia) etc etc. Will be really interested to try the new batch of Varionica’s Pale Ale, Nova Runda hopefully now brewed in Jaska etc.

Would definitely go, but my local Beer Fest in Novo mesto is the same weekend.

Otherwise, news from SLovenia - Heineken purchased Laško (and with it also Union). We’ll see what’ll happen (probably nothing).

Not sure... Heineken stripped Karlovacka of all the brands but the regular & the alcohol free one when they purchased it... However, that was 10 years ago and they DID bring back the Dark a couple of years ago + they do one offs & stuff. Anything could happen.

The festival in NM is on both days? This is both on Saturday and on Sunday, you can still come if your liver, time & finances are up to it! :) Wish I could come to NM though... :(

The even in Novo mesto, Festival Piva, has been moved to April 25th, du to the crappy April weather. Location remains the same, also the participants.

That way, leaving us more time for Zagreb festival this weekend.

We’ll be there on Saturday before moving on around 17:30 to avoid the band and get in time to Svijet Piva which has 20% off on American beers starting @18:00.

Might end up there on Sunday too if some friends can’t come on Sunday. :)

That said, Anna sent me some Hvarska Medicina and Stout. :D

I’ll probably be there around noon on Saturday for a couple hours. So we can meet up, if you’re there this early. I have a couple rare(ish) Slovenian beers available if anyone is interested: Baron Valvazor, Ekološka Kmetija Šlibar Bio Lager and LokoLoko Lokoviško (also Kovaško Svetlo and Temno, but I see you had those before).

Oh, we’ll be interested :). Though the hour’s a bit tough for me. I have something to do in the city center since 11:30, at least a couple of hours, but my plan was to make it there around 14, if that’s still OK with you? Or a quick meet-up earlier (11ish) somewhere central?
