I saw Kraddel’s glowing review of this stuff and really want to grab a few bottles. I saw it at one of the tourist trap shops in Brussels at an astronomical price. I didn’t understand what it was at the time. I thought it was just a regular Carolus beer in a retro bottle with a huge mark up. Is it available anywhere else for less than an arm and leg? |
If you want to the Original Gouden Carolus d’Or then go to Kulminator, they still have the original bottle from the ’80s orso ... |
I assume that he is referring to the below beer which Dylan and me had a whole while back: |
Originally posted by 77ships Ah yes ok, yes that bottle is the newer version, and they also sell the old version at Kulminator like the link i gave in my previous message. But like i said, can’t think that it’s super expensive at Kulminator ... Also now i remember what the difference was ! the new version has written on the cap : Expo 58, while the older version just has a clear cap, and i think even gold foil around it ... |
Thanks for the insight, gents. I was referring to the one that 77ships linked, but the old version will be on my list when I finally make it to Kulminator. |
it was indeed that good ! drank it again at kulminator a few days ago . damn delicious ! |
Originally posted by kraddel That’s awesome. I’m a big fan of the Carolus beers. It’s nice to hear that this one is worth seeking out. I have not yet been to Antwerp, but will post on here when it looks like I’ll make a visit. It would be nice to have a beer with some of the Antwerp crew! |

I am surprised it’s not available at Rampkrot. The owner has been slacking as of late. |
