More information on the gradually opening Roets Jordan taproom: http://www.swnewsmedia.com/shakopee_valley_news/news/business/jordan-brewery-finally-ready-to-open/article_b3805d06-2580-5b6e-89d0-70c486b4d91d.html No word yet on an official date for opening to the general public, but it should be within the next few weeks, possibly as soon as this coming Saturday, and it already has served beer on site to "VIP Club" members.

Minnesota Beercast interviews the principals behind Barrel Theory, a Lowertown St. Paul BIP: http://minnesotabeercast.com/episodes/barrel-theory-beer-co-international-cigars-northern-brewer/

Outside of the metro area, Urban Moose Brewing Company in Sauk Rapids (near St. Cloud) is changing its name to Urban Lodge Brewery & Restaurant due to a dispute with Moosehead Brewery in New Brunswick. http://www.sctimes.com/story/news/local/2016/11/28/urban-moose-changes-name-after-moosehead-trademark-issue/94540770/

This article focuses mainly on The Wanderer Distilling Company in Stillwater (hmm... speaking of naming disputes, Wander North Distillery in Minneapolis may not be thrilled about that, although "Wanderer" is the last name of one of the owners). It "could open in spring 2017" (yeah right). There’s also some information at the end about the long-delayed St. Croix Brewing Company taproom-in-planning. Reading between the lines, I’m guessing that it’s not going to open particularly soon. http://stillwatergazette.com/2016/11/08/couple-plans-distillery-in-downtown-stillwater/

The taproom of Roets Jordan in Jordan opened to the public over the past weekend.

Outside of the Twin Cities area, Blacklist in Duluth has moved into a new space and opened its taproom the day after Thanksgiving. http://www.twincities.com/2016/12/05/once-notorious-duluth-storefront-reopens-as-taproom/

Nutmeg Brewhouse in Burnsville is opening a second location in Arden Hills, scheduled to open in February. No beer will be brewed on site at the Arden Hills location (along the lines of, say, Town Hall Tap), and the new location will be "more fast casual." I can’t find any info online aside from the words of one of the brewers on the December 1 edition of The Beer Show. http://www.1500espn.com/the-beer-show-ondemand/

Some Surly updates:

• "There are two head brewers now: Jerrod Johnson and Ben Smith, both of whom worked under Haug at the brewery in recent years."
• “This month, the brewery is adding eight new, massive brewing tanks to more than double the capacity at its Minneapolis facility — from about 100,000 barrels per year to 200,000…”
• “Surly will soon be selling a lot more beer, but it definitely will not be selling out. Ansari firmly put the kibosh on buyout rumors. ‘That will never happen while I’m here,’ said Ansari…"
• “The duo is already nearing the debut of their first new recipe as brewmasters: A champagne-like ale called Frisson, that will be tapped on New Year’s Eve.”

On our radar is Under Pressure Brewing Company that is scheduled to open in New Hope or Plymouth, MN sometime late 2017.

We also have a new "poser brewery" called Doña Chela Cerveceria out of the Twin Cities. Their Doña Chela Cerveceria is brewed at Sand Creek in Black River Falls, WI

As one "Moose" brewery changes its name, another opens. Moose Lake Brewing Company in Moose Lake, Minnesota (along the shores of Moosehead Lake, no less) has opened its taproom to the public. It’s the only opened brewery between HammerHeart and Duluth along (or anywhere close to) I-35. I believe this is the first brewery to open that had been under the consultation of Dave Hoops’ Bev-Craft.

I wonder when they’ll be forced to change their name. Moosehead is a litigious company and will surely send a C&D if they haven’t already.

That would not reflect well on Bev-Craft were that to happen (unless Moose Lake Brewing Company ignored Bev-Craft’s advice to change its name).

Also outside of the metro area, Junkyard in Moorhead is expanding. http://growlermag.com/mill-junkyard-brewing-expands-with-new-brewhouse/

Chaz reports a BIP for St. Cloud called Pantown Brewing Company as well as two additional, potential, unnamed BIPs for the same area.
