I might be retired from rating, still like to troll the forums from time to time. |
Why? boredom?. Maybe you can retire from rating beers, but not from adding/reviewing places, adding new beers/breweries. This is so useful, and i like it. So i will keep doing so. |
Originally posted by GodOfThunder Same here. I rate locals and rate when I’m traveling and feel like it. Also rate malts. Rarely add beers or places. Kind of semi-retired I guess, pretty much have been since I got fat from beer in 2008. I’ve had some upticks, mainly because of ratebeer scavenger hunt. |
I’m fairly close to retired, but I still rate at least one beer a month to keep my streak alive (only person to rate a beer during every month that ratebeer has existed). |
got a few more years til my pension is looking good. but knowing joet he’ll probably freeze those next year and give us all 401k. |
I’ve basically quite rating. I judge a ton of competitions now and between that and drinking homebrews, I’ve gotten more introspective with beer. I don’t feel like I need to write reviews anymore. It was playing too much of a role in anti-social stuff. I still attend tastings on occasion, but I have a lot more fun just drinking beer than I do writing about it for next to no reason. I’ve internalized most all of my ratings at this point. |
When they pry it from my cold, dead hands. |
Much like actors and musicians there is no need to formally retire. If i don’t feel like it i won’t, which sometimes happens already, but I can always come back. How else will i pass the time in the nursing home? |

There’s more to ratebeer than rating beer. |
