Café Derat

Very small bar at a street corner in Utrecht. Very old school, all old wooden furniture. A few drafts, some of which standards, one sour (with badly written name). Overall, not my type of place, would not go back.

A very short walk from De Drie Dorstige Herten, this is another good stop in Utrecht. Only 6 on tap, but 1 is also Jupiter, so really just 5 - but nothing especially interesting was on. You come here for the bottle list, which is solid, boasting a superior lambic lineup to De Drie, but still nothing all that extraordinary, with mostly easy-to-find lambics. Plenty of other interesting bottles as well. Pricier than any other place I’ve been for the same products. Friendly service. Worth a stop when in Utrecht, but seems very overrated to me.

Nice bar

Characterful old wood panelled bar, nice atmosphere here for the most part. Modest selection of beers at the bar which is hard to get to because of all the fucken bar stools and the usual shitheads who occupy them and give you a look when you try to see what the pumpclips are. So big demerits for that. An okay place but not somewhere I would go out of my way to return to. Overrated.

Really great place, stumbled in late after Borefts. Old school wooden NL bar, lived in, looks bit old in a very positive way, close walk from the centre. Quite packed but with friendly people, got talking with some people & actually met some people that I knew. It has a very old school feel & look but the beer is wonderfully modern. The people are locals, prices are very passable for NL and the selection. Old, lived in, locals, small but very interesting beer list, Evil Twin, Prarie, Yeastie Boys, a quite wide selection of lambiek, lots of enticing options. Best of both worlds really. Great stuff. Very friendly service.

Nice classic little bar, with some decent tap list, covering usual suspects and modern brews. Most interesting part is their lambic selection, some of them hard to spot. Very good ambiance and friendly service, seems to be more a local bar (with house cats).

What a great pub. Simple but sophisticated. Great bar lady who knew her beers. I tried a cheese plate which was served with a sweet chutney and a mustard! Cheese and mustard! Actually went quite well with the beer!
