Jefferson Street Maibock
on tap @ Jefferson Street / Lynchburg VA --- Clear amber brown color, white head cover, waves of lace. Aroma of malt. Taste is malt in which hops and fizz burst in on the swallow. Nothing overpowers; all is balanced and well-conceived. Doesn’t seem like a Maibock, but, otherwise, one of Jefferson Street’s better offerings.

Jefferson Street Oatmeal Stout
on tap @ Jefferson Street / Lynchburg VA --- Clear brown/black color, tan head cover, streaks of lace. Taste is roasted malt with dark chocolate and coffee. Mild bittering on the swallow keeps things nicely in balance. A solid low-key stout. Quite drinkable.

Jefferson Street Amber
on tap @ Jefferson Street / Lynchburg VA --- Clear amber brown color, white rim head, tiny lace dots. Taste is brisk malt with overtones of cedar and mouth-drying floral hops. A jolt of fizz bounces in on the swallow. A long finish, needed for the tongue and roof of the mouth to clear. Fair, mostly overbalanced by heavy cedar and malt.

Jefferson Street Orange Honey Wheat
on tap @ Jefferson Street / Lynchburg VA --- Cloudy grapefruit color, light white head, curtain of lace. Taste is light malt with lemon honey that adds fizz and mild hops on the swallow, meandering from there through a medium-length finish. The "orange" is provided by an orange slice on the rim of the glass.

Jefferson Street Bohemian Pilsner
on tap @ Jefferson Street / Lynchburg VA --- Clear straw amber color, thick white rim head, a few blobs of lace. Taste is VERY light malt with carbonation and light hops built in. Extra sweet floats by on the swallow. Think: this is a better version of Mich Ultra and you just about have it.

Jefferson Street Spring Bock
Aromas of creamed corn, DMS, mild bread crust. Mostly clear gold, somewhat lasting white head. Some malt sweetness, definitely DMS, some earthy hops in the finish. Ligh-medium bodied. Like drinking creamed corn. I’d like to try another batch, just to be fair in my rating.

Jefferson Street American Pale Ale
Growler 68oz This was purchased at the bar below the brewery in the Whitestone restaurant. This is a very attractive area on Jefferson Street in old converted warehouses near the Jame River. The ale poured a clear amber with a very frothy head and modest lacing. The appearance was its strongest feature. A resiny smell and taste that was not characteristic of Cascade hops. The brewery claims they use Clombus hops. Medium body with lively carbonation at pouring and average at the finish.

3.2
Jefferson Street Oatmeal Stout
Draft at the neighboring restaurant. Definitely the better choice among those sampled. Very dry with a deliberate and chewy coffee character. Good enough to have two. (#4289, 10/3/2011)

2.3
Jefferson Street Amber
Draft at the brewery. Pretty much a cookie-cutter "amber" seen at thousands of brewpubs. Cleanly made without fault, but lacking distinction. Akin to a cook proficiently replicating a recipe out of a book, versus a great chef creating something unique and inviting. (#4288, 10/3/2011)

Jefferson Street Chocolate Stout
On tap at Fry’s Spring Station, Charlottesville. Pours a dark brown, not completely opaque, no head. Very light aroma - nothing offensive, but only the light hints of chocolate and coffee. Light on the chocolate flavor as well... has a hint of smokiness, but not much. Not what I expect in a chocolate stout.

Jefferson Street Amber
On tap at Fry’s Spring Station in Charlottesville. They must have unretired this one because it’s on tap now, August, 2010. Pours an amber with no head... this brewery doesn’t seem to ever have a head on their beers. Smells of roasted malts and has a slight smoky malty flavor. That surprised me - in a good way.

Draft… 4th Annual Jupiter Craft Brewers Festival… Clear amber ale with golden highlights and a large, frothy, off-white head. Great retention. Grainy, peppery, resiny nose. Medium-bodied with stinging carbonation. Almost perfectly balanced – leans just a hair on the bitter side. Otherwise, not much to it, but it’s enjoyably refreshing. Lengthy, crisp, moderately bitter finish.
