3.8 Mother Earth Imperial Stout (Barrel Aged) 750ml bottle at share, vintage 2015 (with Silent Night on the label). Inky black pour with a thin beige head. Roasty malts and chocolate come up in the aroma, along with traces of vanilla.Taste adds a little coffee to the roasty chocolate, and for 9.5% its pretty darn boozy too. Sunday, July 2, 2023

1.4 Mother Earth Reef Keeper From a can acquired at total wine in NC, it pours hazy IPA with a big foaming head that goes craggy. Smell is of course sweet purfumy off hops. Taste is a big blast of hops up front fer sure. Bitter mouth coating, no surprises here; simply a terribly on style bitter IPA. Thicker viscous feeling could use more carbonation to get me distracted from how terribly on style this stuff is. Yes, if you like IPA's, you need to try this one. I do sense it to be a little more fruity than the majority of IPA out there, but it just may be that this stuff has ruined my taste buds with its taste bud rototilling nastiness. There, you have it. 2.3 Mother Earth Endless River Kölsch Can from total wine NC. Faint nose of permanent hair treatment. Mostly clear pale. Some tiny precipitants in there. Taste is kolsch fersher. A little more bitter than I like, but its definitely the style. Some almost astringent aspects but never quite getz thar. Decent CO2. Middle has more of that astringency at the roof of the mouth. Finish is OK, its almost refreshing, just. Typical domestic kolsch brew. That's how its hangen. Wednesday, June 29, 2022

3.6 Mother Earth Alpenglow Hazy IPA Draft at the Broad st Deli in Dunn, NC The ale poured a hazy light amber color with a white foamy head and limited lacing. The aroma of pineapple was easily detected. The taste had more pineapple with citrus and hints of pine. The ale has a medium body and soft carbonation. The ale went well with the chicken salad sandwich. Wednesday, June 22, 2022

1.7 Mother Earth Long Weekend Nice looking can, mother earth thought a lot about their labels I see. Pour is typical hazy IPA. Nose is muted IPA hop perfume. Head fades rapidly. First impression is that this brew is rather flat, lacks co2. Somewhat mouthcoating as a result. Difficult, since I don't care for IPA in the first place. Got this one for a cheap price at total wine in Raleigh. Warming sensations develop in the middle. Yes, typical waxy bitter IPA effects. Not real bad, but I'm biased a little since I was outside on a 95F day working on the car. Anyway, this is just another of a trillion IPA out there which are terribly on style. There, you have it. 4.7 Mother Earth Imperial Stout (Barrel Aged) Called "Silent Night". On tap. A 4 oz. pour delivers an opaque dark brown body with tan head that dissipates nicely on the rim. Nose of rich chocolate, vanilla, a bit of coffee and oak barrel. Mouthfeel is excellent with full bodied viscous texture and decent carbonation. Taste of deep chocolate, vanilla, and barrel. Not too hot on the alcohol. Tastes do not overwhelm. Great balance. An exceptional impie BBA stout. Reminds me of Bell's Black Note which is an all time fave that is no longer available. Will revisit this one. YUM! Tuesday, November 2, 2021

2.6 Mother Earth Vanishing Tides Poured from 12 oz can into pilsner glass. A thin white head disappears quickly with zero lacing and abundant carbonation. Color is hazy light straw. Aroma is mild toasted barley and a hint of hops. Mouthfeel is seltzer like with a damp finish. Flavor: not much to talk about here. Some toasted barley, a soapy characteristic, with light hops in the finish. Overall: not very impressive. I will be sticking to much cheaper and tastier options from the big breweries when I am looking for a light beer. Monday, August 3, 2020

2.9 Mother Earth Vanishing Tides 5 week old can A: Poured a strange pinkish tinged pale clear yellow similar to the color of gasoline with a small, fast falling snow white head. S: Apple and pear notes with some earth and grainy bread. T: Also fruity with tart apple and berry leading. Herbal notes join in with crisp crackers rounding it out. M: Light, crisply carbonated, clean and refreshing as expected. O: What the hell is this? Somewhat tasty but nothing about it says Czech Pils. It's obviously flavored to give it fruit ale or Kolsch characteristics. OK but disappointing or at least misleading. Sunday, June 28, 2020

2.6 Mother Earth Dark Cloud This pretty brunette beer looks a lot better than it tastes. Crystal clear copper color with a thick beige head and lots of lace. 4.2 Mother Earth Fall Back Baltic Porter This super robust porter is extremely creamy. Leather, cacao, and rich roasted malts tell the story. Pours nearly black with a thick ring of tan head. 3.1 Mother Earth Second Wind Pale Ale This is a backlog rating from 2012 from a can picked upin North Carolina, from notes. When I had this beer it was average to below average for the style and not something I wanted to have again or I just didn't get back to my notes because of my technology at the time, work and/or family. Words to describe this beer are pale malts, light toast, citrus, floral. Saturday, October 5, 2019

3.3 Mother Earth Endless River Kölsch A little hazy light gold with a tight foamy white head. White toast bready nose with a lightly lightly floral kiss. 3.1 Mother Earth Long Weekend Hazy NE IPA with a weak ring of head. Citrus, but not too rindy. A bit sweet with a bunch of light makes. Pretty one dimensional. But decent. Earlier Rating: 7/1/2018 Total Score: 3.4 A hazy yellow pour and one finger creamy head initially exudes a pretty typical Citra grapefruit nose. But the flavor profile here is very atypical. Resonant melon character laced with citrus rind quickly takes center stage. The malt backbone is game, but never upstages the scintillating dance of the hop mix. Cantelope and honeydew play bit parts. Oatmeal grain ess starts to surface mid scene lending N undeniable creaminess. Interesting and complex while still maintaining a familiar overtone. Mother Earth is on to something here. Thursday, May 2, 2019

2.6 Mother Earth Spring Forward Jasmine IPA 2 week old can A: Medium gold pour with very little head or retention. Coarse sediment with even some chunks floating around. S: Citrus, florals, sweet honeysuckle and a faint whiff of alcohol. T: Very fruity and vinous. Alcohol again present but no bitterness. Jasmine is evident but I don't think it really adds much and probably overpowers the hops. Sort of like a hoppy boozy kolsch, not IPA. M: Low, soft carbonation, medium full body, and wet finish. O: I was intrigued by the jasmine aspect but came away disappointed. Thursday, March 14, 2019

2.8 Mother Earth Weeping Willow Wit Weeping Willow is a decent stateside example of the Wit style. Heavily leaning to the delicate side of the spectrum, the orange and coriander additions are subtle but tasty. Closer to a Hoegarten than an Americanized version of a wit. Crisp with some florals and a quick fade. My bottled version was a bit undercarbonated though, and that made the malts seem overly sweet. Its just ok. Saturday, February 9, 2019

3.8 Mother Earth Imperial Stout (Barrel Aged) Samled at esbls. Black with small tan head. Soy, grain, huge earth, and big malt aroma. Flavor, too. Big grain in the flavor. Soft fruit. Good. Tuesday, January 15, 2019

2.5 Mother Earth Garden Party 2 month old can A: Poured gently to a minimal head that held a ring. Somewhat hazy dusty gold color. S: Citrus, pine and toffee with a whiff of alcohol. T: Strong, boozy and malty flavor of wood and toast with faint tart citrus notes emerging and making a feeble attempt to linger. M: Full bodied with low level of sluggish carbonation. O: Disappointing. Nothing about this stands out or reminds me even remotely of champagne. And at this unnecessary strength, you're better off just having a glass of champagne. 2.7 Mother Earth Garden Party Poured from 12 oz can into tulip glass. Pours a thin white head that drops quickly with mild lacing. Color is hazy yellow-orange. Aroma is overwhelming citrus--grapefruit some white bread in the far background. Mouthfeel is bright, light to medium and somewhat dry finish. Flavor: citrus, grapefruit, pine, did I mention grapefruit? There might be some malt here but it is well hidden under a cascade of bitterness. Overall: meh. Thursday, January 3, 2019
