3.2
Big Tide Seaworthy IPA
Draught at Big Tide Brewing, St John, NB. ABV=6.2%. IBU=70. Poured a crystal clear dark coppery-amber with 5mm of off-white dense foam that diminished slowly to a blotchy cap that laced well. Carbonation moderate, lively and coarse to very coarse. Aroma subtly of caramel malts, slightly sweet. Taste is caramel malt and hints of sweet lychee and spicy (peppery) notes on the back; not overly flavoursome and not my style of IPA. Light body (for the style) with a slightly syrupy mouthfeel. Smooth, crisp and clean with a medium length finish.

Aroma strongly of citrus (mostly grapefruit fruit and some zest), pine and resinous hops with tropical fruits (lots of passionfruit) notes coming as it warms. Taste strongly of citrus (grapefruit pulp and zest), pine and resinous hops; OK 'bite'; medium bitterness. Medium body. Smooth, crisp, clean, dry and refreshing with a lingering finish. Nice.

Aroma strongly of fresh fruity raspberry and slightly tart citrus. Taste is strong fresh raspberry fruit with a slight tartness; no real wheat characters. Light body. Smooth, crisp, and clean with a short finish. Was hoping for a more sour style than a fruity beer but OK anyway.

2.5
Big Tide Seaworthy IPA
Can from the brewery. Pours a darker amber with a sheet of persistent tan head. Chocolatey malt with some pretty heavy bittering hops layer overtop. That bitter lingering pretty hard. Balance is well off on this, the hops just a bitterness hammer. Reading other reviews makes me wonder what happened here. This is a Nope.

Big Tide Celtic Mist Irish Red Ale
Can from the brewery. Pours a expected tawny-red. Solid nose of toasted malts, with a little syrup. Taste is mildly bitter toasted malts, a little thin, some sweetness under.... and that's about it. Not stellar.

3.6
Big Tide Tool Shed Root Porter
Can from the brewery. Pours as a porter should but not much head. Toasted malts, chocolate sweet noted. Sweet malt, with chocolate, vanilla that sarsaparilla coming through. The finish is sweet, with bitterness and vanilla showing up late. Interesting, a little sweet for me but that checks with the root beer aim here. Interesting and for a spice beer not too badly done.

3.4
Big Tide Mango Milkshake Ipa
Can from the brewery. Pours with fluffy white head, some cloudy golden, a little less cloudy than I expected. You smell that mango with some pine. Taste is sweet cereal malt overlayed with hop burn, lesser resin, and pine with the mango present in the background. The hops has a long biting burn in the aftertaste too. Too much hop burn here.

Big Tide Princess St. Imperial IPA
This beer was all wrong. It tasted like a whole other style, that was quite far from any IPA. Aroma was of ripe fruits, and herbs. Taste was weird like sour caramel and sweet corn. I didn’t get any traces of hops, but of overpowering malts and they were bad malts. It had a bitter finish, but it wasn’t from the hops. I’m hoping this was a bad batch, because I enjoy all of the other Big Tide offerings I had.

Big Tide Confederation Cream Ale
Not big a cream beers, but this was one of the better ones so far. Poured a pale gold colour just like it states. Aroma is floral and grassy. Tastes of grass, little citrus, and some herbs. The body was nice, it actually was smooth and creamy. Very inoffensive beer, that everyone could drink.

Big Tide Blueberrry Ale
Not always too big on blueberry beers, but this one was probably the best so far. Had it on tap with real blueberries in the glass. Pours a dark straw colour with white head. Aroma is off grass and blueberries. Tastes of wheat, blueberries and grass. Not as sweet as some blueberry beers, which I enjoyed, also had a heaver body, which was also good. Best berry beer yet for me.
