F & M StoneHammer Pale Ale
Tallboy from the Beer Store. Pours an average size frothy off-white head and has a pale golden appearance. Slightly excessive carbonation. Decent sticky lacing. Aromas of grassy and floral hops, light cereal malts and notes of citrus. Flavours are fruity and citrusy, subtle grass and herbs, some bready and cereal malts in the finish. Medium bodied. Some moderate bitterness on the palate. Fairly decent.

StoneHammer Oatmeal Coffee Stout
Tallboy from the Beer Store. Pours a fairly big frothy tan head and has a deep dark brown, almost pitch black appearance. Some thick dirty lacing remains. Drinkable. Nothing memorable. Bitter but mild, kinda stale tasting. Just read that this brewery has closed it's doors. Tall can, lcbo, TO.

A tad too mild for my palate. Not bad, mind you, simply decent but forgettable. It's my first experience with the brewery, but I can't understand how they won their awards--was there no competitors? A solid C- in my books.

Stonehammer Märzen - Bringer of Wort
This Märzen poured a cloudy amber colour with a creamy, tan head. Medium lacing. Scents include ripe fruit, maple syrup, cereal and a little hay. First swig was smooth with low carbonation. Slightly sweet with flavours of caramel, ripe fruit and toast. Finish is lightly sweet with ripe fruit flavour lingering.

Amber-gold pour. The aroma is lightly sweet and caramelly with a bit of toffee and some light orangey hops. A bit of a soft bitterness and a herbal/bitter orange hop flavour. Sort of a throwback to the malty pale ales of the early 2000's.

Deep dark black pour with a creamy tan head. The nose is great. Rich cocoa and light sweet malt with a touch of chocolately sweetness and a bit of molasses. Rich and sticky with a solid bitterness helping to bring the stickiness under control. There's a great complexity in this beer. Rich and intensely sticky. There's a heavy roastiness as it warms. Damn tasty beer.

Love the aroma and the deep taste. Reminds of the deep brown and black Trappist beers from Belgium. Great to find a Canadian option for these, my favourites.

[9220-20170521] 500mL bottle. Roasted sweet malty grains aroma. Black body with a medium-lasting foamy light tan head. Roasted sweet coffee grains flavour has a nice balance and thankfully none of the astringent charring anticipated from the aroma. Full body. Good, nice to drink. (7/3/8/4+/15) 3.7+

2017-05-21. Black body, modest brown head fades. 3+ Aroma of dark malt with notes of toasty roast malt, Ovaltine, and light fruit. 7+ Flavour has moderately sweet dark malt base, light bitterness throughout, moderate roast touches, very lightly tangy fruit accents. 7+ Smooth average plus body is thinner than my preference for the style, soft carbonation. A bit less robust than my preference, but enjoyable. 7/3/7/3/16 Bottle from the LCBO cellared several months, Toronto.

Pours black with mocha heat that laves lots of lacing behind. Smooth taste with roasted barley and you can taste bit of burnt on the end. Aroma comes through as coffee with hints of fruits. Alcohol burn is not existent, which is great.

Pours mahogany colour with a short lived off white head. Aroma is roasted malt. Taste is slightly sweet with a dry bitter finish. There are notes of roasted malt, barley, coffee, earthy hops, and burnt sugar. Thin bodied and low carbonation. It’s like a stout and a bitter had a baby, and then when they realized what it was they locked it in the basement.

A gorgeous dark roasty malt bomb - I have been searching for a local Baltic ever since my beloved Ockocim baltic was pulled for the shelves - this is a direct substitute - rich, dark, malty satisfying with light hints of figs and grape leaf.

Jet black, big beige head. Lots of roast, but subtle fruity also, and alot of pine resin as it warms. Very full bodied and oily, with soft carb. Medium bitterness, pine resin finish with hints if coffee and more roast. Not bad, leaning more towards imperial stout with the hop profile I’m tasting. Still quite good though.

can. pours unclear bright gold with a small white cap offering some retention and lacing. honeyed pilsner malts, mountain dew*TM, caramel/diacetyl; white grape maltiness, some grassy herbalness, so-so yeast. moderate carbonation - almost spritzy; light body - fairly thin for its abv; balanced herbal-grassy finish. surprisingly, its pale lager (which is quite reductive) little brother, F & M StoneHammer Light, seems to reflect a tiny bit more a cleaner lager as it did not contain as much off-flavours, but close.

can. pours almost clear light gold with a small white cap offering some retention and lacing. light quite fruity pilsner malts, no adjuncts, yet some stench cereals persist; hint of acidity - bitter citrus peel; metal traces. almost foamy carbonation, light body - watery; dry grassy-herbal finish. i’m guessing recipe improved a lot over the years, as this is watery yet sessionable pale lager, without being too bland.

Stonehammer Continuity Baltic Porter
Pours black with mahogany hues, and a beige head. Aroma is malty with hints of cocoa. Taste is sweet with a slight bitterness. The creaminess is immediately apparent. Notes of dates and milk chocolate are present right off the hop, leading into darker roasted flavours including creamy coffee, smoke, cocoa, cashews, butterscotch, a hint of liquorice and malt. In the aftertaste their is a hint of floral or herbal hop notes. This is the creamiest beer I have had without nitrogen. Full of roast flavours without any off putting elements. If I can say one negative its that it is a bit heavy on the finish.
