SDalkoholic
San Diego El "Hefe" Weizen 3
On tap @ SDBC: Served with a lemon wedge and appeared as an opaque hazy glowing yellow. The aroma came up empty with no suggestions for my nose to go off of. The flavor is bland and boring with no real flavors happening other than some minor notes of wheat and the squeeze of lemon from the waitress who served me. Disappointing hef for sure.

SDalkoholic
San Diego Choco-Latte Porter 3.9
On tap @ SDBC: Poured a dark tan brown with a thin creamy layer of head. The aroma was tame yet had a presence of roasted down malts. Flavor is rich and is pure chocolate milk with a sweet base of lightly roasted malts in the background. Extremely smooth palate and my girlfriend almost started drinking it with a straw.

JorisPPattyn
San Diego El "Hefe" Weizen 2.6
Draught Small rim of white over hazy yellow beer. Clove, 4vinylguaiacol, and a tad mineral in the finish. Diluted bananasoda. Oh dear. Light, light viscousness, wheat slickness. Got to Bavaria first, please, and try again.

JorisPPattyn
San Diego Old Town Nut Brown 2.9
Draught Little head left, reddish cola-coloured beer. Nutty, indeed, hazelnut chocolade, and dark green leaves. Cola light? Sweetish and again green leaves. Light, rather watery. Too sweet and too light really.

JorisPPattyn
San Diego Choco-Latte Porter 3.3
Draught Good beige head, very resistent over black beer. Black chocolate, tobaccoash, mocha, roasted malts. Sweet, very sweet chocolate, touch of mocha/coffee. Finish has bitter/roasted coffee notes, better. Well-bodied, slick to viscous. Long sticky aftertaste. Too sweet. Could easily be bettered by a bit more fermenting out/lagering, IMO.

JorisPPattyn
San Diego Hopnotic IPA 3.2
Draught Small, but very resistant off-white head. Nice hops, fruity & exotic fruit, ,with a somehow milky connotation. Passion fruit yoghurt. Sweet IPA! The fruit is there, with all the exotic flavours, but no bitterness, rather a lot of sweetness. Pity. Feels more carbonated than it looks. Fizzy, liquorice-like taste at the tonguesides. Not really hypnotic, rather somniferous.

JorisPPattyn
San Diego 80 Schillings Scottish Ale 3.2
Draught Small off-white rim over deep brown beer with orange reflections. Chocolate, mocha, and berry or plum connotations. Sweet chocolate, coffee-and-chocolate base, mocha, sweet dark malts. Medium bodied and very slick. Better than the sum of its parts. Convincingly Scottish, but weak for an 80/-

San Diego Grantville Gold 2.7
Draught Very pale gold, fine white rim. Grapey nose, green grapes; very demure, whiff of acetone. Quite sugary, but with a hoppy revenge/finish, that itself is fast gone again, falling flat. Light body, but reasonably refreshing. Well OK, it wasnít designed to be a world beater.

JorisPPattyn
San Diego Happy Ending Barrel Blend 3.7
Draught Small cream head over red-brown beer. Cognac immediately jumping out of the glass; sweet, alcoholic, but tempting! Nutty too. Cognac or (sugared) Armagnac flavour; Finish has more sweet chocolatye. Lots of alcohol, faint fusels, red grapes or/and raisins. Very sticky, but not annoyingly, somehow it fits. Alcoholwarming, viscous, full bodied. Definitely their most accomplished brew - due to the barrels?

JorisPPattyn
San Diego Blueberry Wheat 2.2
Draught. Arbitrary score 4/5 for Appearance, as nighttime conditions prevented correct assessment. Fruity nose, if anything reminding of pineapple; blueberry remaining a possibility. Very dull. Perfumed, utterly artificial flavour and very watery, if slightly wheaty background. Watery, empty, even the typical wheatslickness missing. Poor. And thatís putting it mildly.

San Diego Hop-O-Potamus 3.8
Poured from a draft into a pint at San Diego Brewing Company. About one finger when I got it. Color was thick brown. Light brown lacing that remained throughout the pour. Lots of wet, gray film. Smelled of wet cascade hops I think. Also got some lemon and caramel. There was another spice in there that wasnít too great. The taste was a lot different than the smell. Huge alcohol kick. Caramel, wet hops and an iced tea feel, which usually means rye for me. Medium body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Long-lasting smooth finish. Really enjoyed this beer overall. Didnít like it at first but it really grew on me. Iíll be having it again for sure.

iowaherkeye
San Diego 80 Schillings Scottish Ale 3.4
Growler from the brewpub. Clear auburn brown with a small beige head, fair retention. Aroma of toasted malt and grain, some caramel, light smoke, and a little fruity yeast. Flavor follows suit with a little bit of vanilla added. Definitely malty, but not too sweet at all--the toasted malt is dominant enough over the caramel, and the prickly carbonation helps toward the semi-dry finish, bitterness peaked at a 2. Medium body with light to moderate prickly carbonation. Easy drinker, tasty enough.

AmEricanbrew
San Diego Happy Ending Barrel Blend 3.2

Bottle... Pours crazy dark with crimson flashes and a large, frothy, off-white head. Fantastic retention. The nose furnishes mocha and nice piny hops - big milk chocolate. Light-bodied with tons of effervescence. The flavor and finish are crisp, hoppy and refreshing. Bottle courtesy of richiesd!
