Columbia River Paddler's Porter
Taster at brewery. Perhaps I spoke too soon, assuning the flight couldn't get any better. This is a nice smooth, creamy porter. Hints of chocolate and roast grain bitterness. Mild sweetness , smooth. This is tasty.

Columbia River Imperial Hop Heaven
Taster at brewery. As stated in the hop heaven review, this is still about the malts. The increased strength is from sweet, caramelly malts. Hops seem to be an afterthought.

Columbia River Hop Heaven IPA
Taster at brewery. For a beer called Hop Heaven, this seems to be all about the malts. Light caramelly notes in aroma and taste, whatever hops used offer a bit of bitterness and some dryness..

Tap at the Hanshin Department Store Portland event, as Columbia River Single Hop Heaven (Centennial). Not sure if it warrants a separate listing for the hop. Very fruity and floral nose. Copper.\/amber color. Caramel, dates, overripe stone fruit, and rather spicy bitterness. Medium body. Very pleasant hoppy stuff.

The bottle cap was rusty, and the outside of the lip had a lot of white stuff on it. I’m not sure if it was rust related, or mold. The beer is clear, smells ok, and tastes ok, so I think I am good to drink it.

Pour is black with a beige head. Aroma is sweet malty, chocolate, roasted malt, light booze, earth, slight anise. Full bodied. Flavor follows the aroma with plenty of chocolate, dirt, molasses, light booze. Finish is lingering sweet molasses and chocolate with light roasted malts. A full brew. Maybe a tad too sweet for me, but still worth a go or two.

A cloudy orange with a thick beige head. It's got nice hop bouquet of juicy citrus, tropical fruits and light pine. The taste is bitter pithy grapefruit rind & malty caramel sweetness. This is also near it's expiry date but has held up much better than the Pale Ale. Good. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bomber poured to cup. Hoppy aroma with a piney citrus zest. Maple color, average activity, tiny suspended yeast clumps. Citrus rind, sweet, Just enough malt. Pithy grapefruit finish leaves it a bit too bitter.

Columbia River CRB Pale Ale
Columbia River Pale Ale 6.5% Bomber half-price from World Beer Market. It pours a dull copper color with a thick beige head of foam that leaves spotty lacing clinging to the sides of my pint glass. Pine and light fruitiness in the hop bouquet. Medium bodied with a fairly still seeming carbonation. The taste is sweet, herbal, floral, a bit of fruits and somewhat harsh. I am guessing this was heat damaged in transit, fresh I’d say it is a decent but dull pale ale.

Columbia River Paddler's Porter
Apparently Columbia River likes to surprise consumers with an 8.5% porter in their regular lineup. I was very surprised when I came home and noticed this was an imperial porter. This bomber cost me $3.79 at Grocery Outlet but would be a little more elsewhere. Pretty good bang for your buck. Especially considering its a good beer. Black but really dark brown color. Tan head that lasts. Aroma has that espresso dessert without being sugary sweet. Flavor has some heft from the dessert and alcohol but neither comes close to being too much. Fumy without ash which is great, dark crust, low acidity, and finished light. What a wonderful surprise.

22oz bottle. Its a very acidic (not sour) aroma with bitter malts. Flavor is similar with low hops. Pretty easy drinking despite the acidity and the 6.5 abv. The oatmeal does not come through in either the flavor or mouthfeel. It went well with the oysters I was eating.

Bomber from Capital Market. Black in color. Sweet nose with a good deal of roasty maltiness. Chocolate and milk sugar as well. Roasted malt and a touch of sweetness up front. A little thin in the mouthfeel department. Good roasted coffee finish.
