Thin-medium bodied, highly drinkable. Not perfectly executed but complex and enjoyable. Glad to have finally tried this beer!

Calumet Pumpkin Spice Ale
On tap: The aroma consists of moderate pumpkin pie spice with mild caramel and roast. It’s a transparent copper with a small off-white head that fades to a thin film outlined by a slightly thicker ring. The flavor starts with a quick dose of csrsmel. The finish has light-moderate looking pie spices with some mild roast. It’s light-medium bodied with moderate carbonation.

Growler from the source. Lighter than cola brown pour. Light caramel, sweet malts, some lemon, some berries, with a touch of cocoa. Caraway and light grains in the taste raisin in the nose. Quick finish. This is somewhat sweet and grainy. Certainly very old style. Would have liked to try 10 years ago. 13.4

pours a copper amber with a smallish beige head. nose is malt and bread. Taste is caramel and a little biscuit. Some slight hop presence on the end. Not bad.

Tap at the brewpub. This was probably my favorite sampler of this stop. Very dark brown pour - opaque. Thin white head. Faint nose of licorice and dark fruit. Slight roast in there too. Semi-creamy palate, and the taste was consistent with the aroma.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a clear deep gold with a near white head that dissipates completely. Aroma has notes of honey backed by sweet grains and sweet bread as well as a hint of butterscotch. Flavor is quite sweet with honey in the start and butterscotch in the finish.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a clear orange with a slight earthy brown hue and a tan head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma is full of nuttiness that is backed by hay, grain and bread. Flavor is also full of nuttiness but also has notes of bread and a bit of an odd acidic note.

Flavor is mainly a combination of sweet dark grains toffee, butterscotch and a hint of coffee that comes out in the finish. A bit sweet but nice.

Draft at Calumet. Hazy orange-brown. Pronounced smoke aroma. Amber malt tones, slightly watery mouthfeel. Soapy hop balance, some underlying butterscotch tones. OK, kind of awkward.

Calumet Bock
On tap at Rowlands Calumet Brewery. The best of the brews I had on my visit but seems more like a porter than a dunkler bock. Clear ruby red with a thin taupe topper. Aroma of roasted malt, caramel, dark malts and brown sugar. Taste of dark roasted malt, chocolate, coffee with mild bitterness on the finish.
