3.3 Bunraku Nihonjin No Wasuremono Yamahai Junmai Sake Okay; seems mostly prominent with the ethanol heat than any fruity/floral sake notes. Touches of pear, sweet rice, and hibiscus, but the booziness is dominant. Okay. Wednesday, January 3, 2024

3.5 Bunraku Momokuri Sannen Koshu Sake 360ml longneck cork bottle "3 years old" bought at YATA in Metro Plaza, Kwai Chung. Looks: Clear, very pale golden colour with green hue. Aroma: Very fragrant full rice wine, with alcohol, pollen, strong floral, pears, banana, sugar, and sweet rice soup. Taste: Mid to strong sweet rice wine, with strong alcohol, strong floral, sugar, very strong liquorices and strong tannin. Body: Full body. Dry and slightly oily palate. Mouth Feel: Full rice wine, solid and slightly viscous. Booze is potent but surprisingly mild with no warming effects, compares to most Ginjo or Daiginjo sakes at similar abvs. No much fruity esters, mostly pleasant floral laced with pollen. Sweetness is nice medium, not cloying at all. Strong liquorices for a long bitter finish. Simple but nice! After Taste: Fairly dry. Floral liquorices and bitter to mouth. Comments: As an aged sake, this one got the proper look and pleasant concentrated smell. Taste-wise it is quite mild and subdued. If this is a Junmai or Ginjo I will fall straight to it, but as a Koshu, it's too timid and further aging may improve its taste. Still, decent and refined. Wednesday, October 17, 2018

3.6 Bunraku (Japanese Puppet Show) Hojun Junmai Sake 300 ml dress bottle. Note abv on the bottle reads 14-15%, I entered the bottom of the range for the database. Pours a clear very pale gold, still. Pleasant aroma of rice with some noticeable alcohol vapors. Touch of sweetness in the nose as well. The flavor is similar with rice, very light sweetness, followed by some warming alcohol.
