Sawdust City Golden Beach Pale Ale
Draft. Straw yellow in colour with medium carbonation. Flavors are of hay, cut grass, and spent yeast. Very grainy and dry on the palate. Some green hop and dried herbs are present, but there’s an odd husky/papery finish that kinda spoils it. Disappointing.

Can from the LCBO. Hazy pale yellow under a one finger fluffy white head that fades slowly and laces well. Nose is citrus, pineapple and mango with a hint of spice.Just the lightest hint of sweet malt and a moderate- citrus bitterness. Mouth is slightly thin with active carbonation and a crisp dry finish. This is a pleasant surprise. 8/3+/7+/3+/15

Draft. Gold in colour with a bit of haze and medium carbonation. Aromas are of jasmine-like florals, flaked wheat cereal, kitchen herbs, and lemon. Flavors are of clean wheat, mellow sage, aloe, red grapefruit, and white pepper. Quite balanced considering the herbaceous focus of this beer. Medium bodied with a dry and refreshing finish.

Sawdust City Lone Pine IPA
Pine, orange, mango, peach on the nose - high quality. Pours a cloudy maple-orange with large, pillowy and clingy head. Taste is fruity hops, dry citrus, pine, with grainy malt. Finish is long and pleasantly bitter with grapefruit peel. Well balanced, but a bit too heavy for sessioning. Great beer all-around.

Sawdust City Bitter Beauty IIPA
Can from the brewery. Hazy golden body with a small and tight white head. Aroma and flavour are just what I want from an IIPA - lots of dank pine, gooseberry, overripe melon, fresh cut herbs and candied grapefruit peel. Medium bodied, pleasant on the palate, with some boozy warmth in the finish but not as much as I feared given the beer’s strength. Pretty darn solid.

This beer was too legit to quit drinking. It’s always the right saison to drink this beer.

Sawdust City X Barhop Coriolis Effect
Very hazy golden and straw coloured body with a large, four centimetre tall pure white soapy head. Aroma of soured funk, lemons, wheat, coriander seed, sour candy and a lot of yeast - very nice and fresh. Light-bodied; Super soured flavour at first of citrus, coriander seed, curacao, yeast, lemons and more sour notes - very nice and super light/fresh flavoured. Aftertaste shows a great sour and fruity kick with the lemons by far the strongest, along with some yeast funk, a bit of grass and a very easy-drinking beer. Overall, a very nice berliner weiss, similar to the ones that you’d find in Berlin (minus the syrups), but this is a great option, in a can, nonetheless! I sampled this 473 mL (pint?) can purchased from the LCBO on Spadina @ King Street in Downtown, Toronto, Ontario, Canada on 08-August-2016 for CA$3,25 sampled at my hotel in Pape’ete, French Polynesia on 18-August-2016 after lugging this thing literally halfway around the world, but a great drink in the heat of the South Pacific (even in wintertime!).

Slightly oily looking pale golden beer. Smells like something odd, vegetables or something earthy. Taste is equally weird, very lemony, some bitterness, herbal? Interesting, I’d drink it again.

On draft at The Pour House in Toronto. Unfiltered yellow body, thin white head that is quick to disappear. Aromas and tastes both feature hay, grains, cereals, breads and some caramel malts. A decent Kolsch, but not really up my alley.

473 ml can from LCBO, served cold in a tulip glass.

App.: Cloudy bright yellow with a very large white head. Aroma: Tropical fruits (pineapple and peppery mango), bright citrus (lime), no malt aroma to speak of, clean. Palate: Medium body, full, prickly carbonation. Flav.: Lots of lime citrus character with a tropical fruit undertone, a bit of grainy maltiness; quite dry with reasonable bitterness and a citrusy, mineral finish.

Decent for the style. Refreshing.

Can - 473ml. Hazy blond body with a thin, fading, white foamy head. Decent malty aroma with citrusy, flowery, herbal, and yeasty hints. Its sharp, fresh malty/hoppy aroma carries lemon and herbal notes. Ends with a good sour finish. Enjoyable.

Can from the LCBO. Hazy pale yellow with a tiny white head that fades quickly to a ring. Nose is light fruit and wheat with a touch of funk, Flavour is much more robust than the nose with a medium+ lemony tartness and a touch of spice. Mouth is thin but chewy with soft carbonation . Nicely refreshing. 7+/3/8/3+/15

Sawdust City Lone Pine IPA
Tall boy can. Murky deep yellow body and for mine, lots of sediment. Aroma to die for. Turned away for a second after pouring it, and the citrus and pine-y hops caught my nose when coming back. Mouth is weaker than aroma, still sweet malts with hoppy after bite but mild. Some wildness infused in the fruitiness. But very drinkable. Don’t think could do more than 2 in a sitting.

On tap at Bar Hop. A laid back yellow body, is capped by a bright white head. I’m getting the usual requisite Saison characteristics, with lemon, orange zest, pepper and coriander. They all come together in a delicious, but far too easy to drink brew. Tasty and quaffable.

On tap T C’est What in Toronto. Peach coloured head, with a tight, thick white head. Aromas of citrus hops, orange zest, and a kind of pine sappiness. Tastes echo the aromas, but have the definite addition of some peach on the swallow. This is a great IIPA and I wouldn’t hesitate to drink this again.

Tap at BarHop. Hazy light golden with lasting white head. Light wheat dough, lots of soft spices, lemon, fresh herbs with what I guess is the verbena. Medium sweet and light bitter. Medium bodied with a bit creamy feel. Well balanced, the additions are not overpowering and everything combines well.

Pours a hazy golden color with a medium sticky white head. Lots of carbonation. Pine hops on the nose with a bit of citrus as well. Orange, peaches and some spicyness. Taste is a bit alcooly at first then you get some tangyness. Not a ton of hoppyness. Good body. Not bad.

Flavour is tart and a bit dry up front, cherries, moderate alcohol, wood undertones. Average bodied palate, moderate carbonation. Slightly muddled at times but overall the various bits work well together. Tasty. 7/3/7/3/16 On tap at Volo, Toronto.

473 mL can. To be honest, the only reason I picked this one up is because it says "Wvrst" on it. It is a lager. And as lagers go, it's tasty. Mild hippiness with lager crispness. But I'd much rather have the depth of a decent APA. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from brewery. Shared with HopHeadRachel & Daniella up at cabin. Sunset red pour with a bubbling cap of foam. Tart cherries & light funk. At first things are not what they seem with this beer. It takes a bit of sitting before this beer really opens up & shows what it has to offer. Mouthfeel is odd & kinda cool. The Jester’s review below is no lie: you can feel this beer moving into tentacles in your mouth. Recommended.

2016-07-09. Hazy yellow orange body, modest off-white head and lace. 3+ Aromas a pleasantly hoppy, moderate green melon and light green hop character, muted citrus notes. Flavour is fairly bitter up front. Fruity hop character, notes of melon and green hops, ephemeral lemon and grapefruit, brief pithy notes - It reminds me a at times of a boozier GLB Thrust. Lightly herbaceous hop hints grow as you go through the glass. Average bodied palate, good carbonation. Decent. 7/4/7+/3/16 On tap at Brux House, Hamilton.

2016-07-03. Crisp dark amber-brown body with a modest beige head that fades. Aroma of sugary sweet caramel and maple. 7+ Flavour of grainy malt up front, sweet caramel, and a treacle like butter tart character in the finish that lingered. I’m curious how much I would have picked out those specific notes if I had tasted it blind. Light toasty malt accents grow as the glass goes on. Average bodied palate, good carbonation. A bit too sweet for a large glass but enjoyable in small quantities. 7/3+/7/3/14-15 Can from the LCBO, Toronto, ON.

750ml corked and caged bottle from the brewery. Cloudy reddish brown pour, with a big beige head. Aroma is tart cherries with some light pie crust and floral flowery aromas. The base beer seems to have a decent malt bill and it’s coming though in some bready sweetness that honestly does not lend itself very well to the tart cherries. The barrel is earthy and adds some light wood, and brings out a little booze. The finish is semi sweet and subtly tart with more cherry juice and earthy barrel with hints of vanilla. Not what I was expecting at all. The base beer and barrel throw this for a loop for sure. A good one though....

Top: poured with very large snowy white cap. Solid lace shown on glass walls.
Base: hazy, bright gold
Palate : medium, thinner bodied, clean with longer finish.
Taste:front perhaps tad overly aggressive. Hoppy with grapefruit like bitterness, sweet malts with lager vibe to it.
