Una weiss dalla consistenza acquosa. Non il massimo della bevibilità. Retrogusto dolciastro e sgradevole. Sconsigliata.

BeSte Bräu Pils
Una pils dall'aspetto pallido, un po' acquoso. Il gusto non è male, leggermente amarognolo. Per essere una pils da supermercato è tutto sommato bevibile.

Bottled. Hazy pale golden, mid sized head. Grassy fruity nose. Dryish with light-medium body and rounded mouthfeel. Mid bitter finish. Would have preferred it crisper and less fruity.

BeSte Bräu Amber Ale
Amber looks all right - towards copper. Caramel, light roasted, vienna like but more pronounced sweetness. Hint of fruity yeast so I think it is indeed an ale. Drinks fairly sweet, appreciateble difference to the other brews, yet a simple caramel note still doesn’t make it overly exciting. Nice to give a try though. (On tap at the Brauhaus)

BeSte Bräu Dunkel
Very murky brown bodied, unfiltered is okay but this looks... well. Light roasted, woody and nutty malts. Soft bitterness, fairly malty yet surprisingly clean taste given its looks. Bit astringent too, not super good. (On tap at the Brauhaus)

Very misty, very yellow and quickly disintegrating head. Lemon, white bread, hopeless. Sour taste, I think this is off. Sweet too and thin watery mouth feel. Not good. (On tap at the Brauhaus)

Unfiltered and thus hazy in appearance. Similar roasted taste as in Münchener Dunkel style, but a bit more bitter and less sweet. The slight bitterness in the finish brings more character and supports the body.

Dense, vanishing head. There are not so much hops in the aroma, but related floral aromas can be detected easily. Straight-forward, clear taste as you would expect from a German Pils, only slight maltiness. Light body, refreshing bitter finish.

12/12/12/11//12

This is the lightest in colour of the three beers I had on-tap at the new brew-pub: all come in the same tall, thin 0.3 litre glasses. Moody looking, misty brew with a small head that swiftly left the scene as I began to drink. The fresh yeast in the aroma and taste dominate everything else with all other flavours playing ’second fiddle’ and struggling to be heard. I must admit to having trouble really liking this style of German beer: I’ve tried a few now and this one failed to excite me, just like all the rest I’ve attacked hoping to find one that changes my thoughts.

BeSte Bräu Weiss
Very impressed with this offering from the new place for beer in the lovely wine town of Cochem (the brew-pub). Comes from the tap in the same tall, thin 0.3 litre glass all three beers do. This brew is a cloudy deep yellow beer that has a good white crown of foaming bubbles on top: looks just like a good wiess should. The aroma given off is a wonderful blend of bananas, vanilla and yeast: the beer is of course very fresh as you can see the tanks as you drink the beer, so the young yeast element is really prominent and gives the beer a spritzy feel. The taste follows the smells: a lovely beer in all aspects.

Only outlet is the brewpub (currently): my on-tap tall, thin 0.3 litre glass is used for all three of their beers that were available on my visit. The beer is a dull dirty brown/amber, cloudy looking beast with a good white crown of bubbles that produced some heavy lacing on the glass as the beer level sank. The smell was semi-wiess like: hints of banana with toffee molasses coming through as the beer warmed a ittle. The taste was maltier than most beers of this style but not really sweet, some caramel and again toffee in the flavours balanced nicely with a mini bitterness from the hop content which otherwise had been hidden by the more powerful maltiness. Easy and pleasant to drink.
