Sierra Andina Shaman IPA
Crisp and nice copper coloured body with a slight orange glow and a thinnish, off-white head about a single centimetre tall. Aroma of bright grassy and grapefruity hops with a lot of alpha acids noticeable along with some very small sweetness from citrus fruits and a good malt backbone to support the hops. Medium-bodied; Strong hop flavours dominate with a definite citrusey quality and some piney, resinous notes that bring out the bitterness from the hops, ending with a light sweetness from fruits at the end, but this (as it should be) is all about the bitterness. Aftertaste is rich from the hop bitterness with a lot of grassy notes, some flowers and a good bite from the hops, with enough support from the malt and no real sugars at the finish, but enough to be robust and balanced. Overall, a surprisingly nice, older school (read: real bitter) IPA that hits the marks nicely for the style, especially in this location and a good option considering the options. I sampled this 33 cL bottle purchased from Wong [grocery store] in Miraflores, Lima, Peru on 03-August-2022 for S./10,90 sampled on the streets of Lima, Peru with my wife and three kids on 05-August-2022.

Sierra Andina Pachacutec Imperial Ale
Very nice, crisp copper and deep bronze coloured body with a thinnish, off-white and deep tan head that fades pretty quickly, but leaves a nice thin lace on top. Aroma of deep malts, some lighter sugars with honey and resin noticeable, and a floral, grassy kick towards the end, but the rich malts and sugars seemingly battle through everything and leave a lot of pungency. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong rich malt notes dominate here with a lot of sweetness from stone fruits, honey and resin with a lot of bitterness here from the hops and even more of an astringent and pungent alcohol bite towards the end. Aftertaste shows a lot of flavours of just about everything, with a rich malt profile, some relatively strong alcohol and sugars, but a good pungency throughout that is nice for down here and enjoyable compared to other light/lagers here. I sampled this 33 cL bottle (blue front) purchased from Wong [grocery store] in CencoSud, San Isidro/Miraflores, Lima, Peru on 01-August-2022 for S./ 10,50 sampled on the streets of Lima, Peru with my wife and three kids on 02-August-2022.

Bottle. Light roasted grain for the malt, heavy pine for the hops, light soap for the yeast, with faint dark dried fruits in the background. Head is average size, frothy, off-white, with good lacing and is mostly lasting. Color is murky, medium amber. Flavor starts slightly sweet and lightly acidic, then finishes lightly sweet and moderately bitter. Palate is medium, oily, with a lively carbonation. Surprisingly tasty and bold DIPA from Peru.

Bottle. Light haze. Orange body. Smells of biscuit malt, floral hops. As it warms, more caramel malt and pine hops come out. Tastes of a little citrus with the pine. Caramel malt builds as the hops drop off. Moderate bitterness. A little heavy but not sweet and I don't seem to mind the heft. A good beer by Peruvian standards, but maybe not something I'd love with my normal access to beer.
