BlueTarp All I Want For My Birthday Is a Big Booty Baltic Porter
Pretty impressive for a local American Baltic. You get the typical toffee and toast with that kind of cooling cigarette butt aspect that Baltics have. Not sweet at all, which I prefer, though you can taste the high ABV. Solid one for sure.

BlueTarp All I Want For My Birthday Is a Big Booty Baltic Porter
From a can at the 2018 Decatur Beer Fest. Pours with a dark, black-brown body topped with a decent head. Moderately strong, hoppy aroma. The flavor is moderately strong and has a load of dark roasted malts. Medium-full body with medium carbonation.

From a can. Pours a slightly hazy gold, medium sudsy head that dissipated very quickly, very slightly tart. Seems to be begging for some fruit flavors. A bready / wheat after taste. Some hints of lemon.

BlueTarp Last Place Stout
Pours black with brown head, maybe a bit weak. Smells like an imperial stout; alcohol and ruin. Body is on the heavier side of stouts but nothing surprising; maybe even a bit thin for the style. I was a huge fan of the flavor profile here, though; there's an aggressive hop component over a really serious fruity chocolate bittersweet base. The fruity taste is tart, almost unripe -- that will be divisive, but I really like. The notes remain somewhat distinct (they're too strong to really blend) so it could be described as clashing, I guess, but they do somewhat work together, and ride out the boozy finish. Bit of a ride, really. I really enjoyed it; probably my favorite Imperial, if I had to pick one.

BlueTarp Last Place Stout
Rough around the edges for a big imperial stout, heavy on the boozy warmth with an aggressive sweetness lacking nuance. Bittersweet chocolate and coffee dominate, with a sturdy bitterness on the back end that keeps it from growing cloy. The dark fruit notes lean too tart, though, with an unripe cherry tang clashing with anise and raisin notes. Abrasive finish comes mostly from the alcohol. Probably will improve with age, but a bit harsh now.

Pours a nice copper brown on tap with fluffy off-white head that leaves moderate lace. Aroma of nice malty sweetness, hint of lager yeast esters, and a mild earthiness. Taste follows, a well done marzen lager. My only thing is it was on tap in July, is that from last year?

BlueTarp Grapefruit Funk Weisse
Pours a hazy golden yellow on tap with bubbly white head that leaves light lace. Aroma of mild acetaldehyde, hint of fruit citrus notes in the middle, mild lactic funk at the end. Taste follows, unfinished fermentation, but the fruit and acidity is there to a mild extent. Maybe the pH was too low for the yeast to do it’s thing effectively?

Pours a hazy yellow on tap with fluffy white head that leaves moderate lace. Aroma of nice juicy fruit forward hop notes and a hint of biscuit malt. Taste follows, but it seemed to fall off as I drank it, almost like the hops were in the keg and it made them oxidize in the the glass. Tasty enough, but it needs a little more work I think.

BlueTarp Mother Hoppin' Double IPA
Pours a slightly hazy golden brown on tap with fluffy white head that leaves moderate lace. Aroma of big oxidized caramel malt and piney hop notes with a hint of booze behind. Tastes like a light struck beer with loads of oxidation, but not sure how that happened, booze on the back end. This may have been solid at some point but it’s just super oxidized now and the booze makes it assertive.

BlueTarp Go Funk Yourself
Pours a hazy golden yellow on tap with fluffy white head that leaves light lace. Aroma of farmhouse funk up front and a hint of fruity hop notes on the back end, but overwhelmingly oxidized. Taste is more of the oxidation, dry bretty farmhouse notes abound, hops are lost. Decent, but could be a bit old.

12 oz. with no canning date. Mild gusher is an opaque ebony pour with a giant spongy foam that finally settles to a sticky cobweb. Aroma is oxidation, blackberry, soy and molasses. Tastes of toffee, raspberry, earthy spice mix and dark toasted bread. Finish has some toasted walnut, banana and coffee. Medium-plus body has a nice balance and a medium carbonation. Extra overall point for uniqueness, but not something I would seek out again. Seems like one of my early home brew attempts that got infected but was drunk early and turned out OK.

This stuff rocked. Everyone in the place loved it. Perfect sour. Nice body, cherry nose, not a super sour blast. Well sometimes I really like that. These brewers really seem to get ’it.’ Hope they have much success.

Pretty nice, was described as a Wild by the brewers, brett adds a bit of a farmhouse edge funk, not used to sour/lower the pH, not that I understand the how or why. Dry, and funky with tropical notes.

BlueTarp Hopsided IPA
Bland by the latest standards, either the West coast blast stye or the vermont juice bomb style. Had a bit of dankness, that did not help. None of us thought that much of it, but I like that this did not remind me of every other IPA on earth.

This was pretty good, tart with a dry finish, way less fruity than I am used to for a berliner but I’ll admit I have no idea what true to style is in this category. A bit of lemon. Only negative to us was a corn-adjunct taste.

Listed elsewhere as an Irish Red, this was different than a typical amber, lots of roasted stout-like character. Very very light as it was a session ale. Enjoyable.

Single from Ale Yeah. Quickly dissipating tan head. Milky creamy texture with a touch of toasty malt on the finish. A little bitter and acidic finish as well. Good body, well done from these guys.

Maltiest IPA you’re likely to have in a while. Tons of caramel as others have said. Unbalanced IPA’s are the norm; however this pendulum swung to the other side. Not a bad thing necessarily. Sneaky ABV. Good beer, wouldn’t go out of my way to have it again, however.

So, it a session amber? Isn’t that kind of redundant? I mean, I just usually assume an amber is a session ale, unless they call an "Imperial Amber" or something goofy like that. Anyway, this was a little malty, with hints of toast and chocolate, and and subtle, woody hops.

Poured from a 12 OZ can into a pint glass. The appearance is a reddish brown color with a giant thick tan head. The aroma is hops and malt. The taste is a heavy on grain and has a metallic aftertaste. If the metal taste was removed it would have a much higher score.

On tap at 2016 Hogs and Hops. Near black, opaque body that looks thick and is topped by a short head that’s not very durable. Thick, viscous full body with appropriate light carbonation. Excellent aroma with admirable complexity. Dark bread, dark dried fruits and vanilla. Flavor is disappointing after this great aroma. It lacks balance, has strong sweet and bitter notes that don’t counterbalance, is too boozy, and has too much char. Overall: OK for style.

4/5/16. 12oz can from Hop City. Black pour under a small tan head, but loads of lacing, basically coats the glass. Rich aroma, loads of chocolate, some church basement coffee, a metallic tinge. Good flavor, loads of chocolate again, almost reminds me of Hersey syrup, but the roasted malts balance it out with a roasty dryness and a touch of pennies. Not bad.

BlueTarp Last Place Stout
Can. Listed as 12.5%. Black pour with a thin dark brown head. Aroma was charred malt, burnt marshmallow, dark cocoa, touch of coffee and smoke. Flavors were slightly astringent, bits of dark cocoa, licorice, roasty malt, lingering, slightly bitter smoky finish. Mouthfeel was surprisingly on the medium side given the ABV. It’s certainly more dry than I was suspecting. Overall a nicely attenuated, big, roasty stout.
