3 Fonteinen Oude Geuze (Cuvée Armand & Gaston)
Bottle into a wineglass showing cloudy dark orange and about three fingers of white foam. The nose shows a perfect mix of brett, farmhouse notes, and dry apricot. The palate is light bodied and well carbonated. Lightly tart with big flavors of dry apricot, tart oranges, light notes of vanilla in between, and a light acetic edge throughout.

A: Pours deep ruby red with little fizz and no head.little fizz and no head. N: Overwhelming horse blanket with only a faint hint of cherry. T: Horse blanket again with almost no detectable cherry now. Bracingly sour. Lemon notes appear. P: Little bit of cherry and sherbet try to make an appearance before horse blanket and farmyard smells take over again, going into a long, lingering sourness. O: Always a privilege to drink an artisanal lambic, and this one is right up there with the best I have tasted.

(Gusher) Pours a hazy golden with a medium white head that leaves good lacing. Nose is a bit funky but also loaded with carbonic acid that detracts me from it. Some cork notes, too. Taste is quite acidic and a little puckering, offers oak, green apples and lemon. Body is light to medium, carbonation moderately high and festive. Pretty nice overall but I think I prefer the regular Oude Gueuze because of the slightly softer acid profile. Will certainly reevaluate at some point, though.

Bottle (750 ml) at tasting. Thanks to Benjamin for sharing! Loud pop and a bit of a gusher. Hazy orange with a large white head, decent retention, leaving little lacing. Aroma is of citrus rind, nice funk, minty notes, mild peppery notes, carbonic acid that dissipates rather quickly and oak spiciness. Taste is funky with sharp acidity, citrus, mild peppery presence, oak spiciness and hints lemon. Medium body. High carbonation. Dry, funky and lemony finish. Another amazing gueuze from 3F. Carbonation might be a bit too high but it doesn’t hinder drinkability. Great!

Pours cloudy orange amber with low white head. Aroma of grass, green apples, citrus. Taste is green grapes and apple tart, yet very mellow and balanced. This is so incredibly complex yet at the same time so straightforward... Impossible to rate, and at the same time utterly magical.... Light and crisp body with average carbonation. Not that that says anything about this beer. Drink it if you can.

750mL bottle drunk 9/9/16.
Healthy/strong pop of the cork, with just a touch of foam rising very slowly as it breathes. Great carbonation producing a large, white head atop a clear, brass-golden body with a deeper copper tint. Good retention for the style.
Much more subdued/reserved in the nose than the A&G preceding it, though to be expected given the 4 years it has on that one. Lots of honey, honeysuckle, and soft brett-induced lilac, cornflower and mild vegetal, almost rhubarb-like cellar mustiness. Lactic acid is soft and very cheesey, with some more acidic qualities on the very end that seem to "tone" or "shore up" the aroma, giving a little more brightness to it. Light green and red apple is fairly persistent throughout the nose, regardless of breathing time and there is no alcohol or flaw.
Very soft, even floral-like flavors show mild/easygoing lactic acid, and gentle brett, with light lime/hickory nut skin-like tartness and a very soft, malt-and-wheat-laden texture with ample, tight carbonation. Only borderline sour here, and just shockingly easygoing all-around. Similar minerality to the A&G and other 3F gueuzes, with minimal horseblanket and lots of cheesiness and apple. I have to admit to being a bit underwhelmed by this one, though I think a lot of that was how much I let the hype build up my expectations. As well, the nose on the A&G before this was absolutely stunning and a very tough act to follow. I am also very much not a fan of Boon’s lambic which I think has too much apple, rhubarb/vegetal, and malt character for my liking. It’s certainly much less problematic here than in an actual, straight Boon lambic, but it still influences it significantly. Regardless, this is still an excellent lambic with soft, rounded, gentle flavors for the style that make it much more accessible for non-diehard lambic heads.

Black with a puffy light tan head. Aroma of banana bread dough, licorice, coffee. Some funky notes buried under big doughy yeast and fruit. Lightish bodied, not slippery but creamy and alive. Tangy sourness isn’t totally expected from the aroma but a little comes in quickly to underpin the bread and mocha and it takes the overripe fruit aspect almost away. Interesting. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

375mL bottled October 2015, drunk 9/9/16, compliments of Rich182. Cheers, mate!
Cork flies out aggressively as soon as the cage is removed and the bottles threatens to gush but the foam stops right above the top of the bottle.....The beer itself is a clear, deep bronze, with a large, off-white head atop showing strong retention for the style.
Nose is just WOW. Holy crap, this is intense and just so, so, so much expressive, developed brett. Light cellar/must adds depth and funk, with soft wheat/grain suggestions, and only a moderate dose of stronger lactic acids. Just a touch of green apple, may be the only single thing negative I can say about the otherwise stunning, perfect nose. The intensity is just off the charts, but it still maintains a good degree of elegance, as well, for a lambic that’s only sat in bottle for just under a year. Great minerality, good malt character and no overt oakiness. I love the sulphur-laden, massively funky Cantillon nose more than the next guy, but this is irresistible in its own right.
The flavor delivers, as expected (though the nose sets a very high bar). Lots of brett, with very strong, expansive carbonation that benefits from decanting and breathing. Light maltiness, moreso than in most lambics I’ve tried, but it works just fine and offsets the sourness, which is here quite well-controlled. Light horseblanket, some lime, guava, cellar must, mineral/limestone and red apple. Dare I say it’s kind of like a young Blauw....Lip-smacking acidity on the end is enjoyable and clears the way for each subsequent sip. Had this alongside A&T and though it’s quite an age difference, this is easily as good (or better?) than that one. I think this is excellent now and it seems almost impossible it will be anything but stunning for many years to come.

It doesn’t get any better than this bottle. Balanced perfectly and it tastes a bit "original". 3F has som crazy classic geuzes as the golden blend and the OGV but this one is something else, something special that is unique in the world.
