Siletz Oatmeal Cream Stout
22 oz bottle courtesy of riversideAK extra. Thanks! Pours a pretty dark pour, black with brownish red edges, not opaque, but still fairly dark. Small light brown head, lighter than chocolate milk, dies to a film that laces ok. Aromas are a nice sweet stout base, roasted malts, creamy chocolate, coffee, oatmeal sweetness, caramel, a touch bitterness it almost smells like. Interesting, full enough and good. Initial is thin, a bit harsh in the bitterness, almost a touch astringent, moving into a light roast, coffee, a touch of chocolate, caramel, and vanilla. This is very underbodied, a bit harsh, a little watery in the finish. Largely dissappointing, in flavors, body, and even a touch in appearance. Surprisingly it smells pretty good. Subpar.

Siletz Paddle Me IPA
This beer obviously has a multiple personality disorder. Half of the people think it is normal, and the other think it’s a drain pour. I opened this bottle to a gusher, despite leaving it still and chilled for a week. When I poured the beer, it filled the tall pint glass with foam. Like 100% foam. Like, you can lift up the glass and look at the bottom and only see foam. After five minutes, an inch of cloudy, auburn beer has appeared, and the head has dropped an inch below the rim. The bottle sits in the sink and continues to foam out. Malty, yeasty, hoppy, stale aroma. I fear I got one of the bad batches. Flat, stale, bad. This beer, was hardly worth the wait. They should put warning labels on this beer. I hate to pour out a bomber of IPA, but this must be done. :-(

Siletz Paddle Me IPA
22 oz bottle. Pours a clear light amber color with foam, foam and more foam. The beer had to settle down for 15 minutes before I could take a drink. Aroma of piney hops and citrus. Taste of hops, citrus and spices. The flavor was not overwhelming hoppy but still hops dominated the beer. Had a semi bitter dry finish.

I Love Beer and I’ve had Great ones and I’ve had bad ones! This has to be one of the latter! It tastes like a home brew that was left out in the direct sunlight all summer long! :( Not an IPA but more like a belgian golden ale with way too much yeast. Sorry Guys! I liked your Red Ale!

Siletz Chocolate Porter
Sour, somewhat fruity smell. Pours dark with no head and little carbonation. Taste was surprisingly sour (not something I typically look for in a porter) with a bit of cherry flavor and then coffee and other roasted notes. Finish is lasting with a good amount of coffee flavor. Certainly not what I anticipated from ta "chocolate porter," and I’m not a fan.

Siletz Chocolate Porter
Nice deep dark brown coloured body with a perfect sized dense light brown head that lasts for quite a while. Aroma of fresh chocolate, deep roasted malt, nuts, cherries and a faint hint of tobacco. Medium-bodied; Cherry and fruity lightness up front with coffee and deeper roasted malts soon behind. Aftertaste shows some complexity with vanilla and oak coming out - but pretty light compared to what you might expect. Overall, a pretty solid beer - a bit light in the taste, but it turns out to be a good thing, more of the complexity shows up! I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased over 2 years ago in September 2006 at Whole Foods in Portland, Oregon, sampled at home in Washington on 21-January-2009.

Siletz Oatmeal Cream Stout
22 oz. bottle courtesy of a trade with bitbucket. Pours very dark brown, just about black, with a moderate creamy tan head that lasted through the first quarter of the glass and left a few small patches of lace. Very pleasant aroma of chocolate, roasted malt, coffee, prunes, and dates. Unfortunately, the flavor is a huge let-down. It begins with roasted malt, coffee and chocolate, but is followed by a strong tobacco flavor and an odd tangy sour flavor. The sourness and tanginess was in sharp contrast to the creamy smooth mouthfeel I was expecting. I actually ended up not finishing this one. Very disappointing, especially after the promising start.

Siletz Chocolate Porter
Shared a bottle at Bier One in Newport, OR. Appearance typical of the style. Aroma was of sour cherries and molasses, roasted barley. Flavors hinted at the coffee/chocolate that I expect in porters, but the initial tart dimension was just a little too weird for me to enjoy it much.

22 courtesy of DA. About 12 months ago I had an infected bottle of this beer, and had wanted to retry it. Derek was kind enough to see it on my want list and to send me a bottle to give it another go. Pour is hazy golden orange, smallish off white head. Aroma of sweet maltiness, some chemical bitterness. Taste is sharply sweet with bright acid bitterness. Palate is medium to thin. Overall a little harsh, not totally for me. Thanks for sending Derek, I had really wanted to like this better.

Dark and thick as motor oil with an absolutely gigantic tan head. Very nice lacing as well. Very roasty and chocolaty with with an extremely creamy feel to the palate. Would rate even higher if it weren’t for a dose of metallic flavors at the back of the drink. Have had this on tap as well and it’s much better there, something about the bottle messes with it.

finally get to try a Kellerbier... pours a dark medium murky brown colour ... wow, this is an interesting style, has a nice mouthfeel but the aftertaste is what is strange(new to me), some sourness and tweakness , but refreshing and not drying out like sour ales ... i can see liking this style alot more with more practice (and different samples) but this beer is still kinda nice. lacing is ’a new rug’ .... the aftertaste is so wicked and different, i can see most people hating this beer, but to the few who love shocking refresh beers and sour ales, should love this!! ..first bottle from BT...
