The Lion Lion Lager
This lager poured a clear light yellow colour with a creamy, bright white head. Minimal lacing. Scents include creamed corn, malt, honey and little hops. First swig was smooth and a little thin with flavours of corn, malt and honey. Finish is lightly sweet with almost no hop bitterness.

The Lion Lion Lager
En MEGET almindelig lagerøl. Positivt er den ikke så syrlig som mange andre pilsnere. Negativt er den uden spænding og alt for lidt humle.

12 oz can. Clear light gold pour with a white head and poor retention. No lacing. Lots of carbonation yet a rather flat mouthfeel. Smooth and light. Tastes more like a generic lager / helles than an amber lager. Simple. Easy-drinking.

I’m partial to this local brewery, which offers a variety of affordable brews in bottles or growlers. The Lion Lager is an easy drinking lager that always satisfies.

The Lion Lion Lager
Pitcher in Colombo, pours a clear gold with some creamy white head. Nose is what you expect, some corn, yeast, light lemon, light grist. Flavor has something a little bit sour, like corn that’s gone bad, yeast, straw, dough. Finishes a touch creamy.

The Lion Huether Weissbier
On tap at Barleyworks. Light spicy wheaty aroma that’s hard to separate from the orange wedge on the glass. Taste is grainy, kinda boring, kinda metallic. Flat. About as good as I expected, I guess.

Gold Crown IPA
Dark copper pour, with a small white head. Very earthy aroma, woody, grassy, and quite malty, Some caramel, and breads. Finish is a medium bitter, no hops, just bitter earthy malts. This is what an ipa would have been in Ontario 20 years ago.

The Lion Raspberry Lager
Draft - Raspberry jam and clotted cream. Hazy yellow with a rich white head. Raspberry, sweet, tart and bitter. Not too bad, all the different flavors balance so it isn’t too sweet or tart or cloying.

The Lion Wuerzburger Lager
Where and how: on tap at brewpub
Aroma soft, mild , mellow golden malt. Lacking hints of noble hops.
Appearance :
Top: lighter short lived.
Base: amber gold, tad too dark for style.
Palate : soft mid , proper level of carbonation.
Taste: toasty grainy front, proper malt feel but felt tad too thin, washed-out.
other notes it would benefit if it had heavier bend on Munich malt as it has good basics to be very nice.

Gold Crown Lion Lager
I bought this bottle from the brewery. It had a frothy white head when poured into a chilled mug, but it doesn’t last long. It was medium gold and mildly carbonated. It’s not quite as sweet as Gold Crown’s 5.3-per-cent alcohol Premium Lager and has some decent maltiness. This preservative-free lager is drinkable and easy-finishing, but there’s nothing special about it.

Gold Crown Premium Lager
I bought this bottle from the brewery. There’s not a lot of head from a pour into a pilsner glass. It’s pale gold and decently carbonated and a run of the mill aroma. It’s a bit grassy and has some sweetness from the malt. There’s not much of an aftertaste. Overall, it’s drinkable but generic and leaves little impression.

On tap at Barley Works. Clear deep amber, with a thin head. Mild aroma of caramel, with some slight hops. The taste starts sweet and fruity, gets bready and creamy, and has a clean, slightly metallic finish. Smooth mouthfeel. Not bad, as the ratebeer score would lead me to believe.
