3.2 Whitstran Over-the-Edge Bottle. Light caramel/amber brown. Nose of light citrus and pine hops, but quite weak for a dry hopped beer. Caramel and bready malts, some pleasant hops, but also a slight metallic taste. Monday, March 16, 2015

2.1 Whitstran Friar's Sahib Imperial IPA On tap at brewpub. Dark caramel color, most carbonated of the beers on offer. Heavy on the hops, listed at 84 IBU. It’s got the malt, but the hops overpower, definitely astringency shines in this beer. Saturday, October 11, 2014

3.5 Whitstran Over-the-Edge On tap at brewpub. Finally a winner. Medium caramel color, nice head, clear in glass. Hoppy aroma shines, still 46 IBU same as the regular 11th Hour Pale. Hoppy, malty, flavors. Hops linger on the finish. Saturday, October 11, 2014

2.8 Whitstran Eleventh Hour Pale Ale On tap at brewpub. Light golden, clear appearance. Says its 46 IBU but the bitterness is slight. Round on palate nice finish with hops finally showing through. Saturday, October 11, 2014

1.3 Whitstran Horse Heaven Hefe On tap at brewpub. Almost a lagerish aroma, dark yellow, heading towards orange, not very cloudy. Can taste wheat but no banana or cloves, not much like Bavarian wheat beers I’ve come to love. Saturday, October 11, 2014

2.6 Whitstran Steamy Cream On tap at brewpub. Light pale straw color, very clear. Hint of honey on the aroma. Light, not bitter, only 14 IBUS according to beer list. Very easy drinking cross between a lager and an ale. Saturday, October 11, 2014

2.9 Whitstran Friar's Sahib Imperial IPA Rubescent appearance with very puffy tanned head. Lemon and fruity nose, with a flavor that is a bit junky, characterized by overripe and green fruit with some garbage notes. Just a bit off. Celery water aftertaste. Perhaps not as bad as my description makes it sound, but definitely subpar for a DIPA, and the fact that it is on the strong-side, makes the unpleasant qualities more noticeable. 3.4 Whitstran Palouse Porter On Tap at the BrewPub Deep dark brown with mahogany edges and highlights. Very fine creamy off white head that dissipated rather quickly. The roasted malty aroma was rather subtle and the flavors were tame as well Not a very "big" porter, but I suppose an easy example for folks that want to try a "dark" beer. A little sweet at the end...again and easy dark beer. But tasty Friday, April 25, 2014

3.6 Whitstran Highlander On Tap at the BrewPub Clear deep amber mahogany. Small but fine and dense light tan head. Cinnamon spicy holiday aroma, Nice malty flavors, rather dry and low hops as a Scottish Ale should be. Not very big at 5.6 but a nice malty brew with a little spice. Pleasant Friday, April 25, 2014

3.1 Whitstran Over-the-Edge On Tap at the BrewPub Rather deep amber for a PA Big full dense off white head. Plenty of caramel malts and a bit "wet papery" in the flavor. Not much bright hoppy flavor. More malty. But deceny Friday, April 25, 2014

2.1 Whitstran Horse Heaven Hefe Bottle:   Dirty straw water, thin soapy sudsy white head, little lacing.   Okay, a bit stale straw/hay nose.   Not very wheaty.   Sour right up front.   Sour, thin, like a baby lambic.   Not a German Hefe by any means.   Pretty much garbage. 3.2 Whitstran Friars Decadence Bottle. When I read ’Chocolate Chocolate’, that makes me think...hmm, this will be nice and chocolatey. Not so much the case here. What you have is a nice and simple roasted out impy stout with a hint of burnt cocoa. Not a chocolate chocolate impy stout. Decent enough, but loss of score for not being more chocolatey. Thursday, January 16, 2014

2.7 Whitstran Horse Heaven Hefe Looks like apple juice very little carb. Aroma of spice, apples, banana yeast bread. Almost flat. Needs more carb or more secondary ferment here. Taste is pretty spot on for the style. Rich banana bready flavors pair up with the higher abv. All it needs is some co2. Tragic. Wednesday, January 15, 2014

3.3 Whitstran D20 Heavy Water Stout Bottle:   Dark brown, large frothy beige head, sticky lacing.   Lactose like sweetess on the nose, soft chocolate, a little touch of hops.   Soapy start to this one, soft roasted malts, a little tart and ashy on the backside.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Finishes quick, not much lingers.   Light overall, very pedestrian, and almost not even in the category of Stout in my book.   Meh... Sunday, January 12, 2014

2.1 Whitstran Friars Decadence Bottle: Brown in color, small to moderate sudsy tan colored head, spotty lacing. An Imperial Stout that is not black??? Grainy aroma, slightly toasted malts. This is really getting off on the wrong foot. Sour start, barnish, some cocoa and roasted malt aspects. However, being sour, guessing this one is busted already. This is no Imperial Stout, in color, aroma, or flavor. Ugh... Sunday, January 12, 2014

3.2 Whitstran Friar's Sahib Imperial IPA Bottle:   Amber, moderate foamy off-white head, fairly nice lacing.   Soft fruity nose, a little spicy, like a quad or dubbel oddly enough.   Comes across as somewhat of an IPA and Dubbel on the tongue.   Odd beer.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Not all that balanced.   Muddled finish, hoppy, but sweet and bready with a little dark pitted fruit.   Discombobulated. Friday, January 10, 2014

3.2 Whitstran Highlander Bottle: Fiery amber, thin frothy white head, little lacing. Soft fruity start, pale breadiness, touch of caramel and biscuit. A bit too soft overall. A bit stronger on the tongue, more caramel and fruitiness, soft breadiness and biscuit. A sweet and malty beer for sure, but not much in the way of peat, campfire, or charred wood. Body and mouthfeel are moderate. Tasty finish, caramel, a bit more fruity than most, and less of that charred wood/ashy/campfire stuff. Coulda used some of that, along with minor dark pitted fruit. Otherwise alright. Friday, January 10, 2014

2.8 Whitstran Steamy Cream Bottle:   Bright golden, chunks of sediment float around, small frothy white head, little lacing.   Sweet sweaty aroma, very mealy up front.   Some pale fruitiness too.   Thankfully the taste is much better.   Light sweet breadiness, moderate carbonation.   Body and mouthfeel are average.   Fairly smooth on the finish, some straw/hay, generally grassy, with a soft sweet bready background.   Tiz okay. 3.1 Whitstran Wild Ride Lambic Hazy amber with a thin skin of a head. Malty and slightly sour. Very odd for a Lambic. Not the super dry palate I was expecting. Could not get details form Larry the brewer on details of the process. Sunday, July 28, 2013

3.1 Whitstran Friars Decadence On Tap at the brewpub. Clear very dark brown, with a thin sandy head. Standard roast aroma. Not sensing any of the chocolate yet. Flavor is a tame standard stout...porter maybe even,. Some nicely mild roasted flavors but not much else...still not seeing the chocolate. But that’s OK, still pretty good. Sunday, July 28, 2013

3.4 Whitstran D20 Heavy Water Stout On Tap at the brewpub. Clear but dark brown with some mahogany highlights. Lasting thin light tan head. Classic roasted and slight coffee aroma. Roasted flavors. Standard and predictable. bitter chocolate and slight coffee. Sunday, July 28, 2013

3.4 Whitstran Friar's Sahib Imperial IPA On Tap at he Brewpub. Slightly hazy amber with a huge dense creamy sandy head, Deep piney hop aroma, and strong bitter hop flavor. A bit medicinal and perfumy. Plenty bitter and pretty balanced. Well attenuated and appropriately dry. Sunday, July 28, 2013

3 Whitstran Eleventh Hour Pale Ale On Tap at the brewpub. Clear deep amber, witha nice sustained off white head. Nice citursy hop aroma with some sweet malty brown sugar notes. Fairly bitter for an APA but not so hoppy flavorful. Somewhat metallic and brown paper bag-ish. Lingering bitterness but just not ideal. Pretty dry and a nice quick finish. Sunday, July 28, 2013

2.9 Whitstran Steamy Cream On Tap at the brewpub. Slightly hazy light golden with a small but persistent ring of fine bubbles. Very mild light grain aroma and flavor. Nary a hop to be found but I cant imagine this brew needs more than about a dozen IBUs to get to the balance it needs. A beer for the masses, great for washing down your dinner but strangely similar to their other two lighter beers I’ve tried so far. Sunday, July 28, 2013

2.7 Whitstran Pavlov's Pilsner On Tap at the brewpub, Clear golden with a nice steady white head. Sweet grains and a bit corny. Don’t taste much of the standard pilsener hops. Lingering papery flavor a bit. A bit under attenuated I think but pleasant. Sunday, July 28, 2013

3.1 Whitstran Horse Heaven Hefe On tap at the brewpub. Hazy light yellow with a a small quick white head. Claoms to be a Bavavarian Hef, the classic German yeast aromas and flavors are quite mild. Slightly sweet and very tasty. Sunday, July 28, 2013

3.6 Whitstran Friars Penance Bottle at a recent BA/RB tasting... Poured dark amber with a beige head. Strong booziness, dark caramel sugars, dark fruits, and some bit malt sweetness. A little bit of bitterness to that offered an earthy, resinous character to it. Monday, October 17, 2011

2.9 Whitstran Friar's Sahib Imperial IPA Bottle. Pours a cloudy brown with a very thin, light-tan head. Aroma is dominated by sweet, darker malt, with some piney hops underneath. Flavor is super malty, but fairly well balanced by some bitter, piney hops. The near-cloying malt character lasts on the palate. To me, this has more in common with the malty/hoppy variety of harvest and fresh-hop ales than a typical DIPA. Wednesday, September 14, 2011

3.2 Whitstran Over-the-Edge Bottle shared by a friend. Chunky copper color with a medium tan head. Aroma is caramel, dank malt and a hint of apple. Flavor is caramel, a bit of dank malt and grassy hops. Thursday, December 16, 2010

3.3 Whitstran Friars Decadence Dark brown, nearly black pour, some tan bubbles. Cocoa powder aroma on the nose with coffee and acidic characteristics. The chocolate is less noticable on the beer itself, mostly burnt, a little acid, chocolate on the finish. There’s a strongly metallic character that adversely effects the flavor. Monday, June 28, 2010

3.3 Whitstran Friars Decadence Milk chocolately aroma, some earthy topsoil. dark brown, thin bodied, small tan head. burnt toast, little tart sting in the background. more chocolate in the finish. Saturday, June 26, 2010

2.5 Whitstran Friars Decadence 12oz twist off, thanks scrizzz. Pours a thin dark chocolate brown with a ring of carbonation. Smells thin and slightly off. Tart dirty coffee, with hints of cocoa and maple. Thin body with dense big bubbly carbonation. Coffee, prune, molasses, cocoa, dirty and slightly metallic. Saturday, June 26, 2010
