Clear medium to dark brown color with a small to average, frothy - fizzy, good lacing, mostly lasting to diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, dark malt, malt, fruity, wood. Flavor is moderate sweet and light bitter with a average duration, dark malt, fruity, dried fruit - wood, dusty. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft to flat. [20151202]

Cask, gravity dispense, at Pig’s Ear 2015 as ’Waveney East Coast Mild’. Very dark brown, clear, small foamy off-white head. Aroma is bready, simple malts, light sugars. Body is medium, smooth, low carbonation. Taste is bready, sugars, molasses, touch of earth, no real bitterness. A bit insipid but passable.

Cask Gravity at Pig’s Ear 2015. It pours clear deep brown with a small beige head. The nose is toasty, earth, brown bread, grainy, treacle, burnt coffee and charred fruit cake. The taste is bitter, toasty, earthy, coffee grounds, mild acidity, touch of ash and treacle with a dry, toasty finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. An above average mild. OK.

Cask at Pigs Ear 2015, day 1 - London. Pours clear reddish brown with a creamy head. Leathery fruits in the aroma, with notes of grainy toast as well. Light sweet flavor with further grainy bread, light toffee, leathery berries. Medium bodied with fine carbonation; good condition. Moderately sweet to finish, with more berries, lightly toasted bread. A tasty mild.

A pale Amber coloured beer with a weak white head. A light malty aroma, caramel, toffee and a hint of butterscotch. Medium Dry mouthfeel. The taste is a dry biscuity malt flavour to start, then the sweeter elements come along, with a caramel led taste. There is a mild bitterness in the background that does temper the sweetness. The finish is long an dry. Cask @ 38th. CAMRA Norwich Beer Festival 2015.

Cask at the Merchants Inn, Rugby, 30/10/13. Very dark shades of mahogony brown with a good sized light tan covering, good lacing ensues. Nose is toffee, dark malts, light roast. Taste comprises dark fruit tang, light cocoa, toffee. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, dry finale. Adequate mild.

Cask at the Southampton Arms on 5th March 2011. Clear copper with thin light grey head. Aroma quite light and fruity. Tangy citrus liquid, with berry fruits and some bitter hoppiness hitting roof of mouth. Fruity and rather sweet-to-acidic aftertaste, leaving lemony citrus lingering.

Cask. A hazy golden beer with a lazing off-white head. The aroma has notes of honey as well as lighter notes of straw. The flavor is sweet with notes of straw, malt, and honey, leading to a dry and bitter finish where the honey note lingers.

Cask gravity at Colchester BF 2011. Gold clear lasting bubbly whote head. Some malty toffee bit like candy sugar. Its an ok light bitter. Condition is fine but that hard candy toffee flavour is not really my thing. Decent hop sting on finish.

Cask at Smithfield Hotel, Manchester. A chestnut colored beer with no head. The aroma has notes of malt and caramel as well as a touch of butterscotch. The flavor is sweet with noets of malt and butterscotch as well as light notes of roasted malt, leading to a dry caramel finish.

Pale gold with a slight white collar. Very fruity, lots of apple. Faint hops give it a tinge of citrus but overall it’s just underbrewed and grainy. Poor.

Pours pale golden with a small, white, film head. Very mild aroma, just some honey and grain. Light, prickly carbonation, a tad watery. Flavour is sweet, lightly grainy. Not really any hops to speak of. Very boring.

A Mes rate. Cask at the Marble Arch Inn. Very dark mahogany with a thin but solid white head and damn good condition. Rich dark fruity malt. Earthy and dry with a lovely kick of bitterness in the finish. Good fruity hits all round and just jolly tasty. Assertive but gentle. Jolly good stuff... Dog’s arse anyone?

Cask gravity at Reading BF 08. Having visited the brew pub I was interested to have another of their beers. Gold, lasting beige head. Some odd herb, tea aroma, but a decent strong gold beer. OK condition. Bit of sherberty hop. Actually it grew on me as I drank it.

Cask handpull at Queen’s Head, Bungay. Very deep ruby, lasting beige head. Very choccy, velvety, milky aroma. Decent condition in mouth, smooth, velvety choccy mild, some sweetish damson fruit. It’s certainly tasty and smooth, some dryness on end. Little bit one dimensional. Little bit of toffee.
