Methow Valley Harvest Ale
Medium brown with a frothy head. Nutty, chocolatey character with a light woody hop character. Malts get thin in the end...might be long in the tooth.

Draft - Toasted grains. Cloudy copper with a good beige head. Toast malts, burnt bitterness and that soapy finish again. The long bitter finish is a bit much.

Methow Valley Oatmeal Stout
On tap at brewery: Too light -- flavor-wise and texture-wise. Easy to drink, however. Light and smooth roastiness and a mild bitterness. After a few sips, the sweetness became a bit much, with elements of sugary tar and toffee, which didn’t seem to fit.

Methow Valley Porter
On tap at brewery: Smooth and weighty on the tongue. Richly malted and chewy-sweet. Lactic-like sweetness with hints of creamed coffee and milk chocolate. Softly roasted. Moderate hops provided a balanced bitterness without overpowering the malt side. Tasty porter, albeit on the sweet side ... I could only drink one.

Methow Valley Vienna Lager
Growler from brewery. Pours a dirty honey gold color with decent looking head. Nose is odd for a vienna. Good amount of biscuit, no hop to speak of, and a bit of yeast esters that are out of place. Little chewy in the mouthfeel. Biscuit also is the predominate flavor going on. Drinks decent enough, just not similar in style to other Vienna’s I have had.

Methow Valley Cherry Hefe
Growler fill from pub. Pours a deep dark reddish brown with a small slightly pink head. Not was I was expecting on the nose. Quite muted as far as Hef and Cherry aroma goes. Some tart lactic notes, bits of hay, some clove...but not much...more wheaty really. Cherry is in there, but more of a tart nature then fruity. On its own, it was okay but unremarkable. Did enjoy it more when I ended up blending it with the growler of Methow Valley cider we had.

Methow Valley Vienna Lager
Draught @ McGlinn’s in Wenatchee:   Golden, clear, very clear, little to no head, no lacing, almost appears still.   Sweet toasted malt nose, a little caramel and breadiness.   Smells decent at least.   Very malty and bready on the tongue, sweet caramel hints on the backside, toasty.   Slight mealiness but I almost expect that from the style.   Moderate body and mouthfeel despite the fact that it appears flat.   Lingering toasted malts and caramel like breadiness.   Better tasting than I anticipated.   Add some carbonation to give it some livelyness and then they would really have something.

Methow Valley Cream Ale
Draught @ McGlinn’s in Wenatchee:   Hazy straw, thin white head, fizzy, spotty lacing, fairly strong carbonation.   Hoppy, slightly grainy aroma.   For a Cream Ale it sure seems close to a Pale Ale.   Soft hops, even a bit wheaty on the tongue.   Not sure what to make of this.   Its like an American wheat with aspects of a Pale Ale.   It even looks that way.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate, even a little bubbley.   Finishes much the same, wheaty with a little grainy hop twinge.   Good, but maybe a little confused?

Methow Valley Porter
(22oz bottle) Purchased at the brewpub in Twisp for an insanely cheap $3.70 plus taxes. Pours a lasting thin, beige grey head atop an opaque body. Nose is surprisingly fruity and hoppy with some buried coffee notes. Flavour is sweet with a front of toasted malt and some undertones of cherry wood and cold coffee. Good stuff. Really impressed with this brewpub.

Methow Valley Cherry Hefe
(Draught) Sampler at the brewpub on June 4, 2010. Mahogany colour with some very active carbonation. Nose is awful – sour bandaid, iodine and vinegar. Some sweet cherry mid-palate gets buried by sourness. Not terribly hefe-like. Finished with a laundry detergent lingering. Very poor. 1/3/1/1/2

(22oz bottle) Purchased from the Twisp Brewpub’s offsale for less than $4. Pours a thin, quick dissipating white head and a clouded, deep orange body. Woody nose, some red wine mingles with the caramel malt. Not overly sweet, good bitter counter-balance. Some melon on the finish but overall a good beer.

Methow Valley Vienna Lager
Toasty bread and caramel on the nose. A touch earthy and grassy as well. Pours golden orange with some chill haze and some thin creamy foam. Toasted bread and soft sweetness are the dominant flavors. Some caramel notes, a hint of dusty yeast fruitiness. Light earthy bitterness in the finish. Crisp and clean, pleasant to drink with a touch of dryness in the finish too.

Methow Valley ESB
Pacific Northwest Vacation 2007

8/20/2007: Methow Valley ESB is a cloudy amber color with a goldn hue to it. There is a small, but dense, off-white head that produces good lacing that looks like a forest of trees. The aroma contains sweet malts with a dollup of caramel. The flavor is caramel malt and toast with a hefty hop flavor and bitterness that is well-controlled. This beer has a nice, long finish and a medium body. Methow Valley ESB is easy to drink and could be considered highly sessionable.

Methow Valley Summer Ale
Pacific Northwest Vacation 2007

8/20/2007: Methow Valley Summer Ale is hazy, golden in color, and has a thin, off-white head. There is also an generous level of carbonation. The aroma reveals a delicately sweet beer that is fruity (possibly like a Belgian-style ale) and mildly malty. The flavor is fruity as well with some accompanying nondescript spicy notes. This beer is medium-light in body and crisp on the palate. Overall it is quite refreshing.

2 black german style beers at one brewpub in the middle of freaking nowhere....gotta love it. This one was the better of the 2; pretty darn tasty. Black with a bit of head. Aroma of a little smoke, chocolate and light roasted malt. Same flavors in the taste. I still have a growler of this in the fridge I’m looking forward to.

Methow Valley Winter Ale
Very dark brown. The aroma is herbal (mint) and chocolatey. The flavour is highlyh spicy, herbal. I’m finding anise, fennel plus light mint or possibly basil notes. These are overtop of a full, chocolatey body. Soft and smooth with a hint of alcohol in the finish. Hints of allspice warm the tongue. This is a pretty cool beer - subtle spices that keep you guessing and a well-rounded, fully-realized malt backbone.

Methow Valley Oatmeal Stout
Very dark brown colour. Chocolatey, oaty aroma with light coffee accents. Oaty, almost coconutty character is quite sweet. The body is really fatty. There is very little in the way of bitterness, either from the roast or the hop. So many just flabby, oatmealy and sugary sweet.

Black colour. Chocolatey, lightly coffeeish aroma with background wood and nuts. Light body does get a little thin and pronounced raw coffee bean notes show through. Finishes a bit creamy. Not bad, but it doesn’t finish all that well.
