3 Jaxons Black Jack Stout I had this a while back as I think they might be closed. Average stout with roasted malt and a somewhat light body. Good but not bold. Thursday, September 21, 2017

3.2 Jaxons Borderland Lager A clean lager for a hot day or to accompany pub food. Smooth, sharp taste doesn’t over-power food, but still quenches the thirst. Sunday, February 28, 2016

3.5 Jaxons Andale IPA Floral citrus hop aroma. Golden in color with excellent white head. Floral-citrus also on the flavor...coats the moth and lingers with some slight soapy notes.. Quite smoothe, the best of their beers I tried. Saturday, April 28, 2012

2.3 Jaxons Rosas Raspberry Ale Light raspberry aroma and taste...very clean. Clear golden in color with hint of white head. This was actually just a pump of raspberry flavor. Saturday, April 28, 2012

2.2 Jaxons Silver Star Light Light honey aroma. Clear golden in color, poured with no head. Light honey-bread flavor...actually pretty flavorful for a light lager. Saturday, April 28, 2012

3.2 Jaxons Chihuahua Brown Bredy aroma. Brown in color with hint of off-white head. Roasty flavor, leaning towards stout. A great, straight forward brown ale. Saturday, April 28, 2012

3 Jaxons Andale IPA On tap at the Airway location. Pours a clear orange amber with a thick white head. Aroma of lots of pine (actually it smells like Pine-Sol) and sweet malt. Flavor features these same notes- pine and sweetness. It’s an odd combination, and as a result, hard to drink. Also a bit abrasive. 6/4/5/3/12 (3.0/5) Sunday, January 8, 2012

3.6 Jaxons Cactus Jack Amber Ale On tap at the Airway location. Pours a hazy orange brown with a thin white head. Aroma of nice caramel malt, fruits, mild bitterness. Flavor of sweet fruits/malt up front with some spicy hops in the finish. Pretty good amber (sounds like this might be prone to some bad batches, but this wasn’t one of them). Nice and drinkable too. 7/4/7/4/14 (3.6/5) Sunday, January 8, 2012

3.3 Jaxons Andale IPA Earthy hops and a little bit of baby poo - odd thing to find in an IPA. Rich, slightly resiny bitterness bordering on grapefruit. Decent IPA. Saturday, December 24, 2011

2.4 Jaxons Chihuahua Brown Medium brown with a thin head. Sweet malta-like aroma. The body is thin, and kind of nutty on the palate. Pretty nondescript. Saturday, December 24, 2011

1.3 Jaxons Cactus Jack Amber Ale The aroma is nuts and butter. The body is thin, the taste is foul and finishes with lots of butter. There is no way they should be serving this. Saturday, December 24, 2011

2.8 Jaxons Borderland Lager Smells like the lime they put on the glass. Taste is malty with light caramel. Balanced, medium body and quaffable. For a standard brewpub lager, this is well made. Saturday, December 24, 2011

3.3 Jaxons Andale IPA Draft @ Remcon location. Is warm gold with even lace. Lots of citrus peel in aroma. Weird, in the sampler got a clean beer but in large format glass some baby poo comes out. Orange peel too though. High drinkability. It feels light and refreshing. Big toasty malt carries the hop oils that linger, leaving a nice toasty taste. Has character but with the baby poo which comes out more and more is getting annoying. But based on what our neighbor and other people have said, this little flaw is a fluke. Saturday, December 24, 2011

3 Jaxons Chihuahua Brown Draft in sampler set @ Remcon location. Is copper brown, deep with even lacing. Very dry brown bread aroma. Flavors have a surprising amount of mocha. Nice. Thin and on the sweet side. Saturday, December 24, 2011

2.5 Jaxons Cactus Jack Amber Ale Draft @ Remcon Circle location. Dark amber, and the lace is even. Aroma is huge diacetyl overpowering! Buttery dough. Slick and oily. The butter does not carry over to flavors as much but is very slick palate and under hopped but nice malt character so manages to be drinkable, at least in small quantity. If wasn’t so buttery would be better. Saturday, December 24, 2011

3.2 Jaxons Borderland Lager Draft @ Remcon Circle location. In sampler set, is the only one without a head. It was served with a lime wedge. Is amber in color. Smells like lime of course, but the taste is pure malt that is nice and nutty. Good balance with clean finish. Not bad at all, really. 3,6,3,7,13 Saturday, December 24, 2011

2.5 Jaxons Borderland Lager On-tap- Served a nice amber color with a small head and no lacing. It came with a wedge of lime which I discarded. Has a faint aroma of malt sweetness and a bit fruity, probably from the lime wedge. Taste consists of a mild sweetness and just a faint trace of bitterness. Has a dry finish. Light body, smooth but sort of bland. Decent drinker as it goes down easy. Would make a nice session beer. I guess the lime is to hide a bit of the blandness. Friday, March 25, 2011

2.8 Jaxons Black Jack Stout Nitro-tap- Served a vertual opaque black color with a nice full head that fades slowly to good lacing. Has a roasted coffe and milk chocolate aroma. Seems to have a roasted coffee flavor with some chocolate and malt mixed in. Has a mild bitterness and a dry finish. Not quite a full bodied brew. Creamy smooth but missing something to give it that wow factor. Not bad for a couple, but doesn’t pack the punch you wold expect from a stout. Saturday, March 19, 2011

3.4 Jaxons Chihuahua Brown On Tap- Served mahogany color with a decent head that faded to good lacing. Very mild aroma, sort of a mixture of roasted malt and nuts with a hint of sweetness. Has a very mild sweetness with a mixture of caramel and malt. Quite tasty. Medium body, smooth and creamy, well balanced. Easy drinker, first one went down way too easy. Not bad for a beer brewed in El Paso. Saturday, March 5, 2011

3 Jaxons Andale IPA On Tap- Served a dark copper color with a good head that slowly faded to good lacing. Aroma is primarily a fresh citrus aroma. Initially has a distinct citrus bite with a trace of malt. Very dry finish. Medium body, crisp and quite refreshing. The 7.5%ABV is very well hidden. Quite drinkable, went well the the meal. 1.4 Jaxons Hefeweizen 20 oz. at the joint- extremely cloudy copper/yellow color, thin ring around the glass for a head. Very light aroma of wheat and lemon. Hits the mouth with a low-medium body, wheat is apparent, middle has an odd dishwater/odd lemon taste in the background, finish fades very quickly. Thought it tasted more like an old cider than a heffy; no banana, very heavy feel, and it tasted old. Took 5 sips and sit the rest down, did not finish. And according to my wife, that NEVER happens. 4.1 Jaxons Chihuahua Brown 20 oz. draught at the joint- an extremely dark brown with black apparent in appearance, one finger creamy tan head formed and laced very well. Aroma of dark caramel, a roasted strong malt, and nuts. Hits the mouth with a smooth medium body, malt is tasty to say the least, middle holds up fine with nuts in the background, finish has a nice little chocolate note. Best brown that I have had in awhile. Thursday, July 1, 2010

3.6 Jaxons Black Jack Stout Draft in a gigantic happy hour pint-plus at the Airway brewpub. Solid stout. A tad bit chalky. Roasty. Coffee. Not a classic, but a straight away good drinker. Friday, April 9, 2010

3.9 Jaxons Cactus Jack Amber Ale Draft happy hour mega pint at the Airway brewpub. Dark amber if not brown with a nice sticky head. The aroma is toasty. Quite drinkable, this is a solid flavorful brew, rich an mildly thick with caramel malts, yet easily chuggable. These kinds of beers are always underrated yet hard to make. 3.3 Jaxons Andale IPA Draft megapint at the Airway brewpub. Very dark amber with a thin but solid top. Sweet malty aroma, but drinks with full-up body -- thick with malt and wel spiced with a citric twist. (#3880, 4/9/2010) Friday, April 9, 2010

2.7 Jaxons Panchos Porter [Tap] Pours clear and dark brown in color. Virtually no head. A light coffee and mocha aroma. Taste is lighter than expected given the color. A weak roasted malt body. Some grain and lingering astringency. Definitely not the best beer I had that night. Monday, February 15, 2010

2.3 Jaxons Silver Star Light [Tap] Pours a light yellow color with a fizzy white foam head. Nose of corn syrup, grass and some grain. Taste is heavy on corn with a sweet, buttery finish. High carbonation and light in body. Akin to pale lagers from most brewpubs nationwide. Monday, February 15, 2010

3.1 Jaxons Black Jack Stout [Tap] Pours an opaque black color. A thin tan head is visible, but this beer wasn’t nitro when I went. Roasted dark malts and coffee in the nose. Lots of bitter coffee grounds in the taste. Flavoring included dark malts and dark chocolate as well. The beer was a bit thin and unnecessarily alcoholic in the finish. Monday, February 15, 2010

3.2 Jaxons Chihuahua Brown [Tap] Pours a clear brown color. Plenty of off-white head with good lacing. Dry and dusty aroma of grains and cocoa. Roasted malts dominate the taste, with burnt caramel and a light coffee roast as well. Sweet hazelnut and fleeting vanilla notes finish it off. Medium-light palate. A decent brew! Monday, February 15, 2010

2.8 Jaxons Irish Red [Tap] Pours a deep amber color with a fizzy white head. Thin aroma of sweet caramel malts and light hopping. Quite sweet from start to finish. Some molasses and brown sugar in here as well. Sticky finish with low carbonation. Listed above as a Spring seasonal, but I sampled this in late December. No big problems, but uninspiring. Monday, February 15, 2010

3.2 Jaxons Borderland Lager [Tap] Pours a light amber color with no head. Aroma of biscuit malts and lime. The taste was of bread and light crisp hops. Lingering sweet finish. Good palate and mouthfeel. Quite refreshing. Think Dos Equis with more body and flavor. One of their better offerings. Monday, February 15, 2010

3 Jaxons Old Paleface Ale At the Mesa brewpub. Bright copper and very clear. Nice mellow hoppy nose. Flavors of mild hops, very bitter and clean. Light body, sharp and tart. Not bad for the style. Friday, January 15, 2010

2.3 Jaxons Chihuahua Brown At the Mesa brewpub. Dark brown with a white head. Nose is a nice roasty, malty aroma. Taste is just burnt maltiness with no other pleasing flavors. Very plain. Very thin palate that fades quickly. Not even a good homebrew. Friday, January 15, 2010

2.9 Jaxons Andale IPA At the Mesa brewpub. Bright copper and clear. Nose is bit soapy with a mild hop profile. Taste comes off soapy and metallic. Balanced between the hops and malts. Bitter. $2 special. Not that great but drinkable. Friday, January 15, 2010

Fruit beer was out and they just put this one online. Amber body with off white head. Good sweet fruit flavor and aroma. Could also detect alcohol punch in aroma and flavor also. Sweet aftertaste with some dryness on palate. Good BW. Sunday, June 29, 2008
