10th Sep 2013: 0.3 litre tall glass at the brewpub (and 10 cents more per glass than the Helles and Dunkel). Usual cloudy/murky look of Hefeweizen brews, good white head on top. I love the banana aromas some/most beers of this style give off, this didn’t have a huge smell of bananas, but enough to let you know they’ve followed the style in principle. There was a wheat and citrus note within the nose as well, these followed on into the taste which added to the banana flavours nicely. Being fresh it tasted young and I really enjoyed it, even though I’d have preferred a bigger banana presence.

10th Sep 2013: tall 0.3 litre glass in the brewpub. Hazy look to the golden/yellow body, full, deep white crown on top. More malts in the taste and smell than hops, some citrus notes from those hops, but the semi-sweet maltiness rules the roost in this brew. Basic German Brewpub lager/pilsner/helles, nothing to set it apart and really quiet boring in taste compared to the appearance. The least interesting of their three beers available on my visit.

Tall 0.3 litre glass at the brewpub on 10 Sep 2013. Murky looking dull brown/amber body, on top a cream coloured head. Slight caramel and nutty feel to the nose and taste: fairly sweet with a mild hop finish. I’d say a typical German brewpub Dunkel, nothing upsetting, but nothing extra ordinary either, drinking it fresh and surrounded by the brewing equipment makes all the difference though. Comes out with a better score because of that!

Draught on tap@brewpub! Wonderful dark, ruby red color with fine, more durable and dense head. Smells pleasantly sweet roasted malt. The beginning part is very spicy and bitter roasted malt, but overall very generous. The center part is well-spicy, The finish shows nice roasted malt and nutty-sweet aftertaste.

Draught on tap@brewpub! Beautiful nut-brown color, fine creamy head. Smells malty bitter with decent hop aromas. Starts nutty malty, but overall very bitter, and hoppy as expected. The aftertaste is also very harsh and dry, especially. The center part is significantly hoppy. In my opinion too much hopped and too bitter for a Dunkles!
