Aroma of toffee apple and caramel. Flavour of raisin and caramel. Medium body with a smooth texture. Soft fizz. A sweet, rich Doppelbock that goes down well for 8% ABV. The aroma is fresh, fragrant, daisies, floury white bread, biscuit, cracker, toasty grains, cereal, leafy and grassy vibes. The taste is crispy, dry, snappy, pleasing kick of grassy bitterness, bitter - sweet character, hearty malt base of bread and biscuit, leafy, touch herbal, some peppery spice and peppery spice with a drying finish. The aroma is bitter - sweet, nutty, toasty brown bread, cereal, toffee/caramel, dull spice, malt loaf and rivita. The taste is firmly dry, firm, fairly snappy, bitter - sweet, toasty grain, toffee, caramel, dried fruits, raisin, sultana, splash of cherry cola, jammy, earth, woody and wood loaf with a toasty finish. Schlenkerla29	3.4 Mariahilfer Schwarze Madonna Stout Dunkles Schwarzbraun und eine überschaubare Menge cremigen, leicht angebräunten Schaums sind die optischen Aushängeschilder der Schwarzen Madonna vom Mariahilfer Sudhaus. Röstiges dunkles Malz, Kaffee, Schwarzbrotkruste und eine feine hopfenwürzige Herbe verbinden sich zu einem interessanten und sehr einladenden Duftkonstrukt. Der schlanke und kaum spritzige Antrunk erfreut röstmalzig mit Schwarzbrotkruste, zartem Toffee, Espresso und einer verhaltenen hopfenwürzigen Herbe. Bei einem fortwährend schlanken Körper wird ein konsumförderlicher, weicher Trunk geboten. Lakritz, eine deutliche Kaffeebittere und eine gar nicht mal so knapp bemessene Hopfenherbe sorgen für einen leicht trockenen Abgang. Die Schwarze Madonna ist ein kaffeelastiges Stout mit intensiven, aber wunderbar runden Röstaromen. Wunderbar! Sunday, April 30, 2023

Aroma of doughy wholemeal bread, lemon curd,some dark chocolate, pears , prunes & some spicy pepper. Taste of more wholemeal bread, dried malt, pepper a little chocolate & lemon. On the light side of medium bodied with a smooth slightly oily mouthfeel and good carbonation. The finish is dry and on the bitter side of bittersweet with more doughy bread , dried malt , pepper, lemon & a little chocolate. Definitely not a dunkel in my opinion, thou very enjoyable, kinda of like a layered version Sharps Own ( probably the use of dried malt)of old before they were taken over by Molson Coors . Schlenkerla29	3.2 Mariahilfer Vollbier Farblich pendelt das Mariahilfer Vollbier irgendwo zwischen Orange und Bernstein. Eine imposante und sehr standfeste Schaumkrone sorgt für den würdigen Rahmen. Der malzige Duft mit brotig-getreidiger Ausrichtung lässt bereits die Richtung erahnen, die das Bier einschlägt. Im milden und toastmalzigen Antrunk finden sich nicht ganz unverhofft Noten von Karamell wieder, jedoch ist es nicht zu süß geraten. Neben Brot kommen auch sehr gefällige Waldhonigaromen durch. Das sehr weiche Wasser und die betont niedrig gehaltene Kohlensäure sorgen zudem für eine enorme Lauffähigkeit. Erst im Abgang zeigt sich der Hopfen mit zurückhaltender Herbe. Der Grundcharakter des Vollbieres bleibt unzweifelhaft malzbetont und tendenziell karamellig süß. Das Mariahilfer Vollbier separiert sich wohltuend vom Einheitsgeschmack, hätte aber etwas mehr Fülle verdient gehabt. Thursday, April 13, 2023
Schlenkerla29	3.2 Mariahilfer Weizen Hell Goldgelb und hefetrüb findet sich das Mariahilfer Weizen zum Test ein, die Sprudelwirkung besitzt Erlebniswert. Die cremige Blume ist anfänglich noch schön anzusehen, verschwindet aber recht zügig nahezu restlos. In die Nase dringt ein sattes Bananenbouquet, assistiert von etwas Nelke und Ananas. Der frischperlige, hefige Antrunk bietet dem Gaumen in erster Linie Banane, Ananas und Aprikose. Der Körper stellt sich würzig süß und malzdominiert dar. Der Kohlensäureanteil fällt spritzig hoch aus, die Hefe betont den nahezu vollmundigen Charakter. Eine gewisse Würzigkeit hält sich bis in den lang gehaltenen Abgang, der Hopfen spielt nur sehr dezent mit. Die Weizen- und Gerstenmalzaromen klingen ausgewogen ab, Hefe und Hopfen harmonieren gut miteinander. Letztlich erscheint das Mariahilfer Weizen als ein fruchtbetontes Weißbier mit wunderbar erfrischenden Charakterzügen. Friday, March 31, 2023

The taste is dry, bitter - sweet, chewy, toothy, brown bread, malt loaf, dried fruits, warming spice, ginger, clove rock, raisin, sultana, cherry, plum, fruit cake, banana bread, leafy, prickly booze, touch of tannin and leather with a drying finish. Schlenkerla29	3.3 Mariahilfer Antonator Der Antonator findet sich kastanienbraun im Glas wieder, rote Reflexe im Gegenlicht sind ebenso zu beobachten wie eine sahnige, leicht angebräunte Schaumkrone von einer für einen Bock bemerkenswerten Stabilität. Die Geruchsprobe hält bocktypisch sattes dunkles Malz bereit, dunkle Brotkruste, Kaffee, ein wenig Lakritz sind die erwähnenswerten Assoziationen. Der äußerst weiche Antrunk kommt schwer dunkelmalzig mit dunklen Röstaromen, angebrannter Brotkruste, Espresso und Anklängen an Lakritz daher. Viel Süße ist tatsächlich nicht feststellbar, man wird durchgängig an erwähnten Espresso erinnert. Bei milder Rezenz schlagen die enorme Weichheit sowie der gut überdeckte Alkohol positiv zu Buche. Im Abgang geht es schön kaffeebitter zu, eine feine Bitternote bleibt am Gaumen haften. Ein wirklich gelungener dunkler Doppelbock, der eher auf der milden, leichtläufigen Seite zuhause ist. Schlenkerla29	3.1 Mariahilfer Philipps Meistersud Export Der Mariahilfer Meistersud präsentiert sich in einem tiefen Goldgelb und mit prächtiger, wolkiger Schaumkrone. Der Duft gibt sich brotig-malzig mit auffallend getreidiger Grundierung und schwachem kräuterigen Hopfen sehr angenehm. Der Antrunk fällt schön kernig malzig aus, brotiges helles Malz und eine angenehme Honigsüße lassen sich feststellen. Dies alles ist wunderbar abgerundet mit mildem zitronig-fruchtigem Hopfen, der sich gegenüber den Malzaromen etwas verschüchtert im Hintergrund aufhält. Die Rezenz passt und sorgt für ein schönes Frischegefühl. Eine verhaltene kräuterige Herbe bestimmt den Abgang, allerdings erweist sie sich als rasch abklingend. Ein angenehmes Export, dominiert von brotig-süßen Malzaromen, aber auch mit der nötigen Gabe Hopfen versehen. Schön rund und süffig! Friday, January 13, 2023
Schlenkerla29	3.3 Mariahilfer Erleuchtung Satt goldgelb und mit ausreichend gemischtporigem, schnell vergänglichem Schaum steht die thematisch relevant etikettierte Mariahilfer Erleuchtung vor mir. Dem malzbetonten Duft lastet etwas Getreidiges und Süßes an, eine kernig-herbale Note legt den Verdacht nahe, dass überdurchschnittlich viel Hopfen im Sud gelandet sein muss. Ganz ähnlich steigt die Erleuchtung auch ein, helles Malz bestimmt das Geschehen bei einer fast schon unheimlichen Weichheit. Gerste und eine Prise Vanille machen den zurückhaltend feinsüßlichen Mittelteil aus, welcher zudem mit einer schönen herbalen Hopfigkeit punkten kann. Die kernige Hopfennote legt im Abgang noch einmal zu, wobei es die supersüffige Erleuchtung bei einer allenfalls feinherben Note belässt, die den Bierstil nicht in Frage stellt. Somit handelt es sich um einen außerordentlich weichen, feinaromatischen Vertreter mit hoher Süffigkeit, interessanter Kernigkeit und zurückhaltender Säure. Ein schmackhaftes Helles, das nicht auf Gedeih und Verderb auf die pappesüße Karte setzt. Wednesday, January 4, 2023

Typical Doppelbock aromas of fruit cake, dry dark fruits, brown bread and caramel. Taste has the same notes detected in the aroma. A touch smokey with added notes of peppery spice and some ash on the finish. Some brown sugar and toasty brown bread makes this beer fairly well balanced. Taste: Roasted malt, very malty, only light hopbitterness. Hints of coffee. Just over medium body, below average carbonation. Quite smooth mouthfeel. Pours a hazy yellow colour with a medium sized fluffy white head.Aroma is not typical for a Hefe with citrusy notes and also some nuts detected. I’m not getting the usual banana notes. Taste again has a little more citrus and more nutty notes coming through with a little amount of peppery spice. Medium to full body, low carbonation and smooth oily mouthfeel. Very unusual Hefe.
