Riverside Raincross Cream Ale
From old tasting notes. Tawny gold liquid topped by a humongous, thick, rocky beige head. Sweet, floral hop nose. Sweet, fruity malt flavor hints at apples and melon. Too sweet and too foamy!

Riverside Pullman Pale Ale
(12 oz bottle) Since I found this on the singles shelf of a small liquor store in Covina, CA (read: probably been sitting there for a few years), I expected it to be spoiled, but somehow, it survived okay. This is actually a fairly flavorful beer, though the age has probably had some impact on the overall flavor. It’s dominated by a strong fruitiness, but it’s also moderately sweet and malty, and lightly bitter. There’s a slight smokiness present midway through, extending into the finish a bit. Medium bodied with a fairly substantial mouthfeel. The nose is also quite fruity and sweet. Dark amber in color with lots of chunky sediment in the beer. Pours with very little head.

Riverside Pissed Off Stout
I went up and expected this to live up to its name...what I got was something that barely rivaled a Guinness Draft. It pours a brownish mix with a nicely thinned out tannish head. First of all, call it weird, but I was getting yeasty aromas all over this one. Although it wasnt the predominant aroma, it was there for some reason or another. Coffee and vanilla malt were the common aromas with hints of chocolate, as is to be expected of a stout. This beer was absolutely nitroed...very creamy taste, SUPER light in taste...watery...somewhat of a cocoa bean taste with subtle hints of coffee. It ends very bitterly, and abruptly. This was far from Pissed Off...frankly it put me to sleep. Next....

Riverside Raincross Cream Ale
Bottle. Pours amber and slightly hazy with a thin white head. Sweet malty aroma, toffee and clover. Flavor is sweet intially, lots of toasted malts with a mild hop bite and dry finish. Mouthfeel is medium body with almost creamy carbonation. Better than expected, a nice, servicable session ale.

Riverside Pissed Off Stout
Dark as night as can be expected with a decent head. Had on cask, Kind of a tweaked coffee aroma, subtle hints of some dried fruits. Had a real funky ass taste to it, rye was the strangest of the flavors and it also had a sourish belgian thing going on, but both these took back seat to the traditional deep coffee and choco flavs.

Riverside Vanilla Porter
So close but so far. Beep dark color with an angry oily mocha head, aroma overwhelmed by vannila extract leaveing jsut enough room for some roasty malt to come through. Mouthfeel is very on the thin side, in cobination with the dryness fo this beer and the bitterness of the vannila, this one come short, a little roastieness can be detected in the finish but all and all it lacks a seetness that would round this off and make it suberbe.

Riverside Vanilla Porter
Deep brown color with a tan lacing head. A very nice sweet vanilla malt aroma. A bit bitter up front then sweet chocolate followed by vanilla and roasted malts. It was like drinking french vanilla coffee and having a chocolate bar at the same time. The best I have had from this dissapointing brewery.

Riverside 7th Street Stout
I always look forward to tasting a new stout. The dark color and great head was calling me toward it. Unfortunately it did not deliver. It had overly burnt roasted malt flavor and too bitter almost chemical aftertaste. There was a great cofee aroma that could not be followed up in taste.

Riverside Holiday Doppelbock
It was a deep amber color with a small clinging head. Its initial taste was sweet caramel malts then immediately very bitter, slightly hoppy aftertaste. It tasted like a Strong Ale to me with very prominent high alcohol content indicative of the doppelbock.

Crystal clear golden with a telling white head..east coast hoppy smell..Cardboard malts with creamy bitterness and sweetness in the background..Sadly, I wasn’t in the mood for sweet cardboard and mustiness. so I must dissent

Riverside Strawberry Blonde
Head fades fast into bubbly soapy top. Strong notes of strawberries in the nose, of course. When you drink it, you can tell this is a little different than a lot of strawberry blondes out there. It is not as candy like as other strawberry blondes. The sweet straberry flavor is subdued with a creamy flavor. It reminded me of eating strawberry ice cream. I liked the fact that it wasn't simply strawberry. There was a chewyness to the mouthfeel that was nice. Very good beer.

Riverside IPA
Nice, though thin, head atop a golden body. Smells simillar to a sierra nevada, same kind of pineapple, grapefruit smells. However, the glass smelled of the cleaning liquid used on it, so it probably left off tastes to the brew as well as off smells. (would have smelled and tasted a lot better). Had the same fruityness around the tongue as it did in the nose, only there was a hell of a lot of hop bite. If your a hop head, you'd love this beer. Not quite as well balanced with malt as other IPA's, but the maltyness has a presence throughout the beer. Also leaves a nice lace on the glass.

Riverside Victoria Avenue Amber Ale
Head fades into nothing. Smells of Caramel with a slight hoppy assult on the nose. Slight burnt flavors along with a bit of coffee flavors and a malty finish. Not something you normally get in a amber but it really is good. To me this is, on a consistancy basis, their best beer.

Reddish looks, fruity malt nose. Appley light oakiness and a little dryness run throughout. Firm maltiness. Pretty robust and hearty but just lacking a little depth for the style.

Riverside Victoria Avenue Amber Ale
Reddish brown hue. Aroma is toffeish, pretty sweet. Smooth on the palate, medium to full bodied with definite burnt roasted notes that carry a little nuttiness into the aftertaste. Toffee/caramel flavors and an apple/oak that seems to be consistent at thsi brewery. Not much bitterness in the finish, more of a roasted dryness. This beer won best Scottish Style ale at the 1994 GABF, and that makes sense to me in the style.

Riverside Pullman Pale Ale
Subtle hop aroma, malty, hints of spice. Medium bodied palate, pretty light and well carbonated. A firm fruitines of the malts provides some sweetness and backbone throughout also contributing to a smooth finish. The bitterness in the finish is nicely done just adding a touch of citric crispness. Good session beer.

Riverside Raincross Cream Ale
Yellowish looks, clear lager-like, moderate carbonation. Pretty clean aroma, faint mustiness of malts. Fizzy palate. Not too bad on the flavor, honey, malt fruits, a little appley with hints of oak that adds a little character. Not my style but worthy summertime drinker, or beginner's beer.

Riverside Honey Lager
Sweet, prickly, sugary flavors, honey definitely springs forward. Reminds me of an English shandy (beer and sprite). Light bitterness in the finish, but overall lingering lemony sweetness. Pretty light in color and moderate carbonation. Definitely one for the ladies.

GOod shizit. Solid, body/flavor. Great beer with a taste one can appreciate, if one were comparing it to a bud. Still a pilsner and that means it is still average at best, though better than most big american pilsners.

Cloudy yellow. Light lace. Citric hops, some herbalness. Lightly toasted. Very boring. Tastes like this brewery uses hard water, and not to its advantage.
